Re: Black Friday tips
If anyone still doesn't have it, HOOPUS is now $299 with Forbidden Planet thrown in. I honestly think HOOPUS might be the best complete Symphonic orchestral package out there. Forbidden Planet seems a bit underrated (maybe because it was the longest running vaporware in this industry) but I was ...

Re: Black Friday tips
I ended up grabbing VWinds and VHorns from Acousticsamples. Great playability, spatial control and very low disk footprint. PerformanceSamples Pacific too. In the past, for some reason their strings libraries did not jibe well with me. Perhaps my skill at playing with those attack layers is too poor ...

Re: Cinesamples Industry Brass and Musio subscription platform inc "Lifetime license"
The player loads samples pretty fast, so +1 from me. To me the biggest bummer about functionality so far is lack of mic mixes and synth legato (this has also been true for Spitfire's in-house player, but how in the world are you going to play lead synths without mono legato?). It looks like mic ...

Re: Orchestral Tools / Pēteris Vasks Chamber Strings
The first chairs hit a certain sweet spot perfectly if one is okay with the idea of having several single dynamic layer p to ppp legato patches. As limiting as it may sound, it really plays nice out of the box.

Black Octopus Sound is ~60% OFF. They have some really cool vocal sample packs (if you are okay working with individual audio clips - which is totally fine for me) as well as dance music stuff.

Re: Black Friday 2021 (inc early deals)
I also got XO (plus some expansions for AD2). It sure looks like fun! The only thing that I missed in the short time I had to demo it was more possibilities of manipulating the samples. E.g. I didn’t find basic stuff like pitch envelope. Maybe I just overlooked it. Or maybe this is just not the k ...

Re: Black Friday 2021 (inc early deals)
I've got XO as per Guy and Geoff's reactions and holy cow.
It's literally the combination of the best sample browser I've ever seen and one of the best rhythm machines I've ever tried. Please, grab this one. I'm also very happy that it loads Ogg files, not just usual wav/aif.

Orchestral Tools is doing 50% OFF the Berlin Series MAIN Collections + Berlin Symphonic Strings . (Sorry Tobias, corrected!) Re: OT Berlin Symphonic Strings Update Released
Hi Tobias:
For what it's worth, I think SINE Player (1.0.5) is totally workable on FL Studio other than the "buffer flashback" issue. No visible performance issue, it works smoothly. I ran it on a relatively dated rig (i7 6700 @ 3.40GHz) and no stuttering etc. experienced.

Re: OT Berlin Symphonic Strings Update Released
I am generally impressed with SINE player's performance esp. loading times (running on SATA SSD) but there seems to be a few strange issues with how it handles audio buffer. Most notably, I get audio artifact for a split second (which sounds like a re-run from the last 250ms or so) after not playing ...

Re: Steinberg to drop the dongle
Seems like a good news. However, if you lose access to your license w/ iLok by keys stopped working (happened to me once, had to literally refregiate it) or a software iLok license gets locked in to a broken computer, it is up to each company's policy to whether they help you. Though, from my ...

Re: G-Force / OB-E (Oberheim emulation)
I was dominantly Mac in 90's, but moved on to Windows after OSX. Losing compatibility every major update bothered me (though there were a few notable compatibility issues throughout the classic era, that mostly came from low-level operations and Apple weren't deliberately killing backward ...

paoling - I have a huge respect for your libraries programming/recording approach and I share the view that "THE library" might not be possible at all, given that context matters so much. Even though libraries with bone-dry approach like MSS are far more flexible than baked-in performance libraries ...

Re: Modern Scoring Strings
richhickey - your mockup sounds pretty good especially with custom reverb. Audiobro clearly knows how to record with very low noise floor (especially after Genesis, which is unbeliveably noise-free for a choir library) which can be a big plus in aggressive tracks like that, but not with romantic ...

Re: Modern Scoring Strings (aka LASS 3)
NI Symphony Series Strings (Audiobro's previous joint library with NI that also does divisi and auto-divisi) was also known for a bit colorless sound, and legato transition wasn't very pronounced (not much transition can be heard in full, a little more exposed in divisi section) but IMHO still ...

Re: Modern Scoring Strings (aka LASS 3)
I was looking forward to this release, but my personal reaction so far is frankly mixed with a little negative tilt. On paper spec this is such a wonderful and enormous library that does from (awesome) ostinatios to first chair to divisi to aleatoric with even various sus attacks. On the other hand ...
