I've enjoyed using the regular version of Replika. I hope to get around to trying this before the discount period is over. NI is one of those companies that try to be a little confusing about when their deals actually end.

I wish NI would sort out their coding. I'm always surprised by how much CPU their effects munch.

Replika's good fun, does some nice spaces that lurk somewhere between reverb and delay. Will be interesting to see how they've expanded it.

Hi,

I wonder how NI-Replica XT compares to UVI-Relayer UVI Relayer.

I don't have any of these delay plug-ins, but I was entertaining the possibility of buying UVI-Relayer. I'm not a big fan of NI-based effects in general. (I very rarely use them).

UVI Relayer is great, but is definitely a CPU hog. You wouldn't think humble delays would be processor intensive, would you? Even the clever ones...

90% of the time I just use the Waves H-delay which is CPU-light and, well, just works - all the basic controls are right there, it's well designed. I'm still looking for the 3rd party equivalent of the Delay Designer in Logic which would be great for more tricksy stuff.

I'm guessing XT will make it into the next Komplete - I'll probably check it out then.

Yeah, that sounds like the best use of my resources. In the meantime, I think I'll take a look at Output's Movement fx generator. It seems like it has a bit more latitude.

Doesn't make it any better because its cheaper and the CPU usage is crazy YMMV.

Have to agree, CPU seems to be a big issue with Relayer and Replika, even though I like interfaces and workflow much better than other delays. For quickly visualizing patterns they are great, but 2 instances of Relayer makes my computer crash, which has not happened in a long time. And in my mind makes it difficult to reach for, even when I really want to. Hopefully someday I can use them as quickly as the walkthrough video without CPU overload.

Until then echoboy is great. Upgrade to Soundtoys 5 bundle for $49 (I owned a few already) and got it included. So echoboy isn't always expensive, you just have to wait for a deal (and check plugindiscount.com). If anyone knows of a low CPU delay that has the multi-tap graphics of these delays, please post. Eventually I have to go shopping for a computer that can handle relayer.

I'm a big fan of D16s Sigmund as well. Maybe not so light on the CPU but boy can you make some crazy stuff with it!
