Native Instruments 25th Anniversary / Twenty Five (free instr.)
Think what you want about them, but the world of DAW-based music production would be *very* different without Native Instruments. This year, they're celebrating their 25th anniversary and the festivities get underway with the release of a free Kontakt- (or Kontakt Player-) instrument Twenty Five: "It allows users to sculpt entirely new sounds from combinations of classic presets taken from 37 different instruments across NI's history. From modern flagship synthesizers, to timeless Kontakt pianos, and hidden gems from the Reaktor and Generator archives, Twenty Five is a time capsule of NI's contributions to digital music making over the past quarter century. As part of the Kontakt Play Series, Twenty Five comes mapped with intuitive macro controls, powerful FX, and a built-in sequencer."
