Department Of Sound / Ecoplate
There’s quite a lot of virtual plate software available these days, but one plugin that often gets overlooked is Department Of Sound’s Ecoplate. Carefully modelled after the Jim Cunningham-designed legendary hardware — most famously used on, or by a.o. Michael Jackson (“Thriller”, “Bad”), anything by The Brothers Johnson, Quincy Jones, Michael McDonald (“Sweet Freedom”), George Benson (“Give Me The Night”) — the plugin adds several features and a degree of editability that wasn’t possible with the physical device.
Available in VST, AAX and AU format. There’s a free demo. But you need an iLok.
