Mathew Lane / TiCo

New — well, a few weeks old — and fully deserving of your attention: Mathew Lane’s TiCo.

Mathew Lane is the brain behind the DrMS spatial processor — and if you’re familiar with that plugin (*), you know that a brain of considerable size, ability and imagination was needed to put that one together — and now, quite out of the blue, he has released a new plugin: TiCo. In almost every respect the opposite of the complex DrMS: TiCo is simplicity itself. It has only two dials — tightness and contour —, each with a small handful of character profiles to choose from, plus a mix and a gain knob. And an on/off switch. But what a world of possibilities.

It’s good, it’s useful and it’s more than reasonably priced for the time being. And you can demo it without limitations for 14 days.

(*) If you're not familiar with DrMS and have an interest in the amazing power and possibilities of Mid/Side processing, it'll be well worth your while to give this one a thorough test-drive as well.

I'm trying this out and so far loving the sound and simplicity.
