So, how do you feel about the price tag? Personally I think the 61 version is about 300 -350 bucks too expensive, I own many MPE enabled full version synths and certainly do not require the mixed bag included in "Ctrl-e" , also, that enormous key travel distance, weird, is that really needed?
I don't think so, on the contrary I think it is a built in design flaw, but that is a purely technical opinion.
That aside, I am certain more refined versions will appear on the horizon eventually, but yes, congrats, finally another MPE controller keyboard to hit the market.
Sadly, still early days, but yeah, way to go!

Re: Expressive E - Osmose 49 & 61 CE
It's for sure a super nice controller, but to me it squarely sits in the very same league as the Hornberg HB1.
Precious few people really NEED it, but it sure would be great to HAVE it.
And some people either really make use of it, and need it, or simply have the funds to get it just because they can.
I'm pretty convinced that a significant portion of the market for these things is literally people saying "screw it, I'm going for it!".
PS: I do, in fact, have a Hornberg HB1, yet I am the first to admit that most other breath controllers would likely do just fine. Just with MUCH less style

Hi Tobias, folks who are used to 88 keys, ten fingers and a triple pedal sure appreciate the additional performance dimensions.Tobias Escher wrote: ↑May 01, 2026 11:00 am PS: I do, in fact, have a Hornberg HB1, yet I am the first to admit that most other breath controllers would likely do just fine. Performance!
Hence it requires a dedicated effort to master these dimensions, it was true for the Roli and remains true for this and others to come afterwards.
Personally, I could not even begin to imagine using a breath controller. I mean... horses for courses, but...
I drink.
I smoke.
WTF?

Re: Expressive E - Osmose 49 & 61 CE
haha, I'm used to 4*61 keys, tons of couplers, pistons and all kinds of crazy playing aides, as an organist.
I have a seabord, and never really warmed up to the MPE stuff, but I'm admittedly far away from sound design and synth stuff.
The Osmose is definitely on the list, very high on it, actually. If the funds open up....
EDIT: I still love using the Touché.

Re: Expressive E - Osmose 49 & 61 CE
I'm a marginally adequate piano player with a NI S88 Mk1 as my studio MIDI input/controller. I like to use a lot of CC control and automation in my tracks but the S88 has never given me the control I feel I need and I usually resort to overdubbing CCs and automation at a later stage in the DAW. I had the opportunity to try an Osmose last year and was blown over by the playability of it and I found that all the ways that could be used to influence the sound were quite intuitive (to me at least) and relatively easy to pick up (I had about 10-15 minutes with it). I didn't bite the bullet at the time but I'm seriously thinking about it again now with this latest release. I can understand how some might want to wait for an 88 key version but I think a 61 key would be perfectly adequate for my needs - my brain can't really handle 10 digits of MPE.
