He is just adorable. The passion for music in all its forms - electronic, acoustic, classical, jazz, standalone, to picture. And for musicians in all their forms. I think that infectious passion, and his desire for meaningful collaboration, is why he is constantly in demand, why he is beloved by producers, directors and other musicians.

I count at least nine MKS80s in there. That room is a cathedral to musical over-indulgence.

I enjoyed the interview and I am a Zimmer fan of course. He has an incredible body of work and there is much to learn and appreciate. He has led a remarkable musical life in film and there is so much inspiration. He is also very giving, despite being a super star. I have had some personal interaction with him on VI-C messaging and Facebook, very generous of him.

Having said that I was expecting something more from the interview, maybe I already know too much about the guy. I would have loved for Rick to bring some of the same exploratory line of questioning as he brought to his incredible Thomas Newman interview.

There is a really nice interview with a gentleman that Hans did years ago where there were so many good music technology related questions. Its somewhere out there on YouTube. I will see if I can find it and link it there.

This is probably a spoilsport position, but my enthusiasm to listen to his interviews has cooled noticeably since his deal with Saudi Arabia. I'm much more interested in what Raman Djawadi has to say. Unfortunately interviews with him are harder to find.

Saudi Arabia is ruled by a government that systematically commits human rights violations, including the curtailment of women's rights. Homosexuality can be punished by stoning to death.

I've been thinking about something in this interview since I watched it last week. He says before he starts a new project, he sits and he forces himself not to play until he hears something in his head - either melodically or texturally (paraphrasing). It avoids him doing the same old thing.

This has really resonated with me. Anyone else find the same (or opposite?)

I more or less do a similar thing almost all of the time. I think about it for a bit before I start working. If I am working on one project but I know there is one coming up in a few weeks, it will not escape my mind. It helps me zone in to something. It is the broadest of musical colours in the head and many times just a feeling of something that the music is trying to communicate.
