Somehow I missed this release

Fracture Sounds Emotive Woodwinds.
The library has many clever features. You can set the legato delay to match your playing. All other articulations are delayed by the same amount, so you can use one track delay for all articulations. The instruments are recorded in situ. You can centre them at the touch of a button. There is a keyswitch that gives you a long, natural fade-in and release.
What struck me most was the attack on the short notes. They are crisp and to the point. Well articulated. There is no hesitation, no sneaking up on the note. Very nice.
I have two reservations: firstly, the dynamic range is limited. You know the oboe joke? What does an oboe sound like in forte? PÄÄÄÄÄ! What does an oboe sound like in piano? ffffPÄÄÄÄÄ! Not here. There is no forte at all. Everything sounds in the range from piano to mezzopiano. That's too restrictive for my taste.
And clarinet and bassoon sound a bit dark. I'd prefer a more transparent sound. There's something about this bassoon in general that doesn't suit me.
Still, I will keep an eye on this one.
There's more than meets the eye

Emotive Woodwinds - Fracture Sounds
Re: Emotive Woodwinds - Fracture Sounds
don't know, I thought I was listening to a clarinet until I read "flute" on the plugin...
Re: Emotive Woodwinds - Fracture Sounds
It's not that bad, is it? They are not orchestral woodwinds. The room is to small for that. For chamber music and tv music I could imagine using them successfully if they had more dynamic range. But then again, they are up against Cinematic Studio Woodwinds for that.
