Quantising has had a really big impact on music, so I quantise pretty much all my drums and my bass synths, to make sure they are all locked in with each other. But I don't generally quantise synth or piano patches, and obviously when you are playing real instruments, it's much harder to quantise them and make them sound authentic. I'm a big fan of doing a lot of takes! I just play a part until it is right, even if it is a MIDI part. I think of that as my rehearsal. After playing a tricky part for hours, I am a better player!"

Just curious as to how old the quote is? Ocean Eyes was her first single when she was about 3 IIRC.

But I LOVE Finneas. Lunch was the best produced record of last year, it sounded phenomenal. That man has the best ears. I noticed in a documentary he had "10,000 hours" scrawled on his wall - probably everyone here knows what that refers to. It has stayed with me because I think he is so naturally talented. And yet.

The other great thing about Finneas is that he is very open with his methods and techniques. Tons of tutorial videos out there and I think I'm right that Logic comes bundled with Ocean Eyes.

Yes, I’m going to be checking Finneas’s YouTubes, because the songs I’m writing recently are co-writes with my female Kiwi partner who is also a songwriter, producer and most importantly the singer on our project. I think we’re at 14 songs recorded now.
