Arturia Pigments 6

Post by Guy Rowland »

New Modal Engine
Experience physically-modeled tones using beam or string resonators, from collision-based decaying tones to friction-based textures. A bold new dimension in hybrid synthesis.

New Filters
Broaden your palette with an analog-infused Multimode V2, the stacked Cluster filter for swirling textures, and LoFi for crunchy, vintage-style coloration.

New vocoder effect
Inject everything from classic robotic timbres to avant-garde vocal textures into your patches. Modulate it with external audio, with any engine or filter output, or with itself.

New modulators
Elevate expression with new per-voice modulation assignment, audio-driven envelope triggering, and generate new curves with revamped Functions.

Granular improvements
Scan through samples mid-playback for time-stretching atmospheres, randomize grain playback for each note, and adjust grain size for fluid, evolving textures.

UX & UI enhancements
Refine modulations with an updated drag-and-drop workflow, explore an improved file browser, and enjoy a refreshed layout including a polished light theme!
Free update for existing users, intro offer €99.

Good stuff! Is that all factory patches or are you rolling your own?

It's out since a few hours here, all factory with one instance of Myth, Simon Stockhausen's "Cello Lead" from Hacked Mythology.

I get it, the various demos and tracks sound awesome,, and the feature list approaches the insanity that was Alchemy - so yeah, it is a cool and capable plugin. What am I missing? Or what am I missing out on?

I can get it for $49, which seems like it could be a no-brainer.. Then the devil on my other shoulder says "you have enough plugins" (my devil is a little confused!)

Anyone want to point me in one direction or the other?

Bill, you DO have enough plugins.

But there is always the free demo...

And...

If you want to retire a few synth plugins, get Pigments.

If you want to keep using what you have, don't get Pigments, not even the demo.

I find it has replaced quite a few of my synth-VSTs, it's UI/UX is great and works like a charm on my touch screen.

And finally, it's deeeep...

:D

I have a 99€ upgrade so unsure at the moment.
Since I gave my hands a telecaster 4 yearsago and a strat (H.E.R signature) last week , I’m less inclined to update my synths - though I’m a synth and keys guy.
And when I compare Pigment to any U-HE offer I find it weak, unbodied.

Bill, this is six years old, but well worth watching.

I've been watching! This and some of their tutorials. I think I shall download the demo, and may someone have mercy on my wallet!

It won't, I don't think, replace Alchemy, but it may get close, especially since I have access to the waveforms that Camel Audio provided.

I don't think it replaces the u-He plugins, and I doubt it replaces any of the emulations - let me put it another way - it would be way too much work to reproduce an emulation that already exists...

I think?

More later...
