Re: Strezov Sampling / String Contours
Very nice library from Strezov. I think it will be very useful for some composers. I have been reluctant to buy such modules in the past (not because of snobbery) because it's just now how my brain works when writing but this library does do something very difficult to do otherwise.
My only concern is about integrating it in a larger context but once again as a specific production tool, it sounds fabulous!
Wasn't this something 8Dio tried to do years ago but was never able to fully succeed?

Re: Strezov Sampling / String Contours
Interesting. It took me a while to get my head round it, partly because the first examples all clearly had CC data. He mentions this at the end, I guess this is a simple additional volume control? Most dynamics being baked in.
Of course what you lose is legato. In some examples it works great, in others less so imo.
It feels like the kind of library that really has to be played with to get a sense of how useful or otherwise it is. You'd have thought by now this would be easy with Kontakt libraries, but alas.

Robin here one of the producers of String Contours.
I honestly don't know why it shows CC Data in the midi item in Cubase when George plays it, because he doesn't touch the modwheel according to Kontakt, but I can guarantee you that all the demos don't have any. He mentions at the end that you can use CC1 as kind of expression with a filter added to further shape each contour, but you don't have to. Just an additional option as the whole point of the library is that you don't need that. We had a discussion to let that out and don't give the user that control, because it doesn't fit to the concept. That being said, in order to get the best out of any situation we all do weird things to our sample libraries to make them fit, so we included it. Using the library for 6 months now I only needed it once.
Yes, I was thinking about releasing a limited freebie patch, because playing it instantly explains the concept and value of it more than a thousand words.

There are a lot of good YouTube videos on String Contours now. It looks well done and pretty intuitive to use. The Afflatus discount makes a purchase especially tempting.
Best,
Geoff
