I’ve abandoned Waves a few MacOS’ses and/or system updates ago. (Which also meant saying goodbye to three or four plugins I quite liked, but: can’t be helped.) Only to say: I don’t know the first thing about any of the Waves plugins mentioned in this thread. I'm sure they're great, but for saturation (in the widest possible meaning of the word), the King and Queen on my chessboard of audio processors are, and firmly remain, Goodhertz Tupe (or TupeWow, as the updated version will be called) and FF Saturn 2.

I’ve always thought of it as a lighter version of Eventide Blackhole or Valhalla Shimmer, but maybe it’s more unique than that..?

Also, Rogue Amoeba SoundSource and Goodhertz CanOpener. Indispensable utilities for me.

In my little setup, all of Valhalla, Softube Chandler Germanium Compressor, Weiss Maximiser and EQ, Eventide Split EQ.

What is the uniqueness of each of these?

Good question. I have not come across a plugin compressor with that wide range of attitude and subtleness at the same time, and it certainly has a lot of character, but can be nearly invisible as well.

Weiss stands out for me like a bi-amplified linear spatial reference monitor, as neutral as can be.

Valhalla stands out for me not only in the bang-for-buck department, but surprising sonic quality of Sean's plugins.

Split EQ, was Eventide not the first to achieve that, splitting transients and tonal information in a EQ? I might be mistaken, and by now there must be more like this of course, but I sticked with it.
