Relab Development have released what they say is "the ultra-realistic cinematic reverb and the world’s most accurate recreation of a peerless Danish hardware reverb". Adding: "The REV6000 faithfully recreates the iconic “Hollywood” sound of a classic Danish hardware reverb, enhanced with a modern workflow for today's production workflows. It offers unparalleled audio quality, intuitive controls, and a broad range of applications for music production, post-production, and sound design. With the REV6000, we're not just recreating an iconic reverb; we're carrying forward a tradition of audio excellence that has defined Danish audio engineering for decades."
If you're confused about the difference between this product and TC Electronic's own software reverbs: the Relab recreates (a stereo version of) the VSS6 algorithm from the TC6000, whereas TC's plugins are the VSS3 and VSS4 ported from their System6000.
Not particularly impressed by any of the demo's (check below), I must say (*) — which doesn't mean that the REV6000 isn't capable of impressive results — and moreover, I have a festering allergy for anything that relies on the word 'cinematic' to try and lure me in, so this is not for me, but if you're of a different mind, the Relab REV6000 is being introduced at a price of $149. Its regular price will be $199. There's also a demo version which gives you a one-week free trial.
(*) The below-average quality of some of the source material has got something to do with it in a few of the examples.
