I think most will agree that the team at 8Dio is interesting. Some may use different words?
Some people love their libraries, some don't but still use them, and some delete them and take the loss. I suspect the same can be said about almost every sample library developer.
There is also no doubt that Colin and Troels can get the best from their libraries when doing demos. And they are no hacks at epic statements either. Neither of which will impact whether or not a library works for you.
I wish they had a refund policy, but they don't. I've got quite a few of their libraries (too many), and there remain some stand-outs, including all of their little percussion libraries, many of which go back to Tonehammer. I also like the winds, and a couple of the strings libraries. Their intimate strings, brass, and winds libraries are also pretty darned good.
My experience only, YMMV, but I would not stop purchasing from any developer based solely on their personality. That said, I would also never fault someone else from doing so. And in all candor, I do find myself passing on their new releases because I know they will be sharply discounted in the future. In that way I think they cut their own throats, and hope it does not affect other developers badly.

Colin is no longer part of 8dio, I believe. Great guy and wonderful composer.

Wow! I had not heard. He is a wonderful composer and mockup artist. Some of his tracks just amaze me.Ashermusic wrote: ↑Sep 26, 2022 11:59 am Colin is no longer part of 8dio, I believe. Great guy and wonderful composer.

Didn't realise Colin had left either. I still regularly go back and listen to his demo for LASS "She was a fair lass".wst3 wrote: ↑Sep 26, 2022 1:19 pmWow! I had not heard. She Was A Fair LASS is a true classic, and all it is is good composition and arrangement, plus keeping the modwheel in the bottom half of travel. Owning LASS is still a great reason to not buy average new strings libraries.

Cage Strings $40 for a short while longer. I know that one is pretty well thought of - aleatoric and effects stuff.

Funny-I had the rare thought that an 8Dio product like this might be worthwhile-inconsistency of levels, mediocre editing etc wouldn’t matter much.Guy Rowland wrote: ↑Oct 08, 2022 1:12 pm Cage Strings $40 for a short while longer. Re: The 8dio flash sale thread
8dio have their Intimate Studio series on sale this weekend. Some of the demos sound rather nice, but we all know 8dio's QC reputation, so any direct experience with these welcome. NB - these are all Kontakt libraries.

Re: The 8dio flash sale thread
They've added the Mandolin, Steel String Guitar, and 12 String Guitar, $15 each. Ends 12/18 (or whenever they decide to really end it).
(But not the guitalele, grrr)
