Please share your experience with Acousticsamples basses

Post by doctoremmet »

Currently on sale over at https://audioplugin.deals/bass-collecti ... icsamples/ for $65.

Given the fact that their V-Horns are brilliant, I’m curious about these bass guitar / upright instruments. Pro: it runs in Falcon, and has a relatively small storage footprint. Are these using a similar kind of semi-modeled approach, I wonder? I’m guessing they are not, because they do not have the “V” designation in their names?

Demos sound pretty good though. I’m definitely getting the V-Tines and V-Reeds if they run a good enough BF sale on them. Maybe the AS collections could make good accompaniments? So I would love to hear some of your actual user experiences, if you have any.

I have not tried these but I own V-Tines, V-Reeds, V-Horns, B-5, and the Sunbird guitar and all of them are stellar, so I would be shocked if these were not as well.

No, Temme. They are in fact all among the earliest libraries AcousticSamples produced (and they're entirely sample-based). In other words, all of these basses have already blown out many a birthday candle. (To give you an idea, I purchased the upright, or AkousKontr as they call it, in 2009 for €32, as a quick look at my order history shows.) That doesn't mean to say that there's anything wrong with these basses. From day one, AcousticSamples have always succeeded in capturing excellent sounds and turning these into great virtual instruments. But don't expect ultra-sophisticated, deeply sampled material, because that's not what these are.

The AudioPlugin price for the entire set is very attractive though, it must be said. This full bundle is about the same price as what you'd pay if you were to buy a single instrument over at AcousticSamples.

Thanks Piet. I figured as much. My recent purchase of V-Horns has made me aware of Acousticsamples. I may still get these, that sample of a fretless Ibanez does sound interesting on the one demo.

Appreciate your input, as always!

Thanks Jay. I am quite convinced I may need to get all the ones you mention there, although I already own way too many samples of those instruments.

I'm hoping they will release some Solo woodwind instruments at some point.

I don't have any of their Basses.
