Sonokinetic Orchestral Strings (with A/B divisi)

Post by Linos »

Sonokinetic has officially announced that they plan to release 'our Full Divisi Multi-Sampled "Orchestral Strings"' in April:

'We are pleased to announce that our current plans are to release our Full Divisi Multi-Sampled "Orchestral Strings" in April of this year. Over the next couple of months, we will be releasing more information and insight. Stay tuned for further details.'

For me it is a pleasant surprise that it will be a divisi library. Yes yes, yet another strings library. But I am looking forward to this as I really like the sound of Sonokinetic strings. I assume they will be recorded in the same concert hall as their phrase-based libraries and Woodwinds Ensembles. For me that's a unique selling proposition, as virtually all other strings libraries have been recorded in a studio or church.

April is not too far now. I wonder when it will be released in April ?

Early, Mid, or late April ?

Super excited about this release.

Why’s that? (Just curious)
-Disclaimer: I have received free libraries from East West and several others. Don’t shoot me.

Hi,

Sonokinetic records their strings in a concert hall (congress Center), located in the city of Zlín (Czech). not a studio, or a stage.

Here is a link to that concert hall showing some pics, and other details. https://www.archiweb.cz/en/b/kongresove-centrum-zlin

This has given their strings in their phrase based libraries a beautiful tone/timbre. They currently don't have a dedicated multi-sampled Strings library. So, their announcement that they will be releasing one in April, that will also have Divisi Sections, and Auto-Divisi feature, is one of the main reasons I'm very excited about their upcoming Strings Library in April.

So, to sum it up. The Tone/Timbre of their Strings, and the features are the main reasons I'm looking forward to their upcoming Strings Library.

Cheers,
Muziksculp

First Day of April, and no Sonokinetic Library yet.

We just have to wait.

Hi,

Sonokinetic confirmed that their upcoming Strings Library will be released this month, they posted about this on VI-C Forum.

They just need a little more time to finalize things. They won't be releasing any teasers, we will get to watch, and listen to the library on the release date. They confirmed that all is going well. So, hopefully we will have a new wonderful sounding Strings library this month. With some nice features, and a beautiful sounding timbre.

Very excited to see it released any day this month !

Cheers,
Muziksculp

Apart from a delay of the release there is one bit of additional information that has been posted on Vi-C. The section sizes are 14-12-10-8-6. Each section is divided in two groups. The full section you get by combining the two groups, which can be done in the instrument using auto divisi. Individual control over each group is also possible.

Looks good to me. The divisi groups have 7-6-5-4-3 players each. That's similar to Berlin Strings (8-6-5-5-4) which seems to be around the sweet spot for sampled strings.

Hi,

Given their current Spring Sale ends today, I'm hoping that they will be finally releasing their new Strings Library tomorrow, Monday, May 17th. We shall see.

Super excited to hear it soon.

Cheers,

More Delays... It looks like a May release is not going to happen. ;(

Hopefully they will release it in June. :ooo:

For all intensive purposes, it’s June. Perhaps Sono should stop tweeting posters that emphasis “SOON” and just get on with it until they are dropping it, or it at least has been delivered to NI for encoding.

I’m happy to wait, just stop making injuries worse by providing concrete evidence of your ignorance, my ignorance and mistakes is bad enough. 😄

The library is with NI already for encoding, so it should not be too long now. Also, Sonokinetic seem to have learned from the delays. At least they didn't say anything about when it is going to be released this time, only that it needs some more time.

The release had to be delayed another few months. But there is a first demo now:

Eh, something is wrong with the stereo image. It actually sounds better when I flip the phase on my Avocet. Should I email Sono?

Well, the system isn't recognizing my U/P... I do not get why companies feel the need to require a customer log in to send a support ticket. Say I have a pre-sales Q.... I have to create an acct before I ask?

The shorts in this demo sound incredible, definitely among the best I've heard so far.
I still don't like the sound itself, it sounds overly reverb-y, distant and very narrow, but I think and hope that's just a mixing issue.

This sounds really good to me. It's transparent without sounding harsh. Classic. I don't hear it as reverb-y, just as having a nice bit of natural ambience. Also the distance sounds right to me. It's not a closer recording studio sound, but a concert hall sound when you are not sitting in the front row. Maybe this can be tuned to taste through the mic choices.
It's a 'Spaltklang', with each section being clearly defined, rather than blending together too much. Makes sense too for a divisi library. What I don't like too much is that the mix is top heavy to my ears. Too much violin, not enough viola and bass.

This library is months away. They are still polishing it.
