Re: Spitfire / the first 2 additions to Abbey Road One Foundations
Happy to add the low strings to my copy of Orchestral Foundations. Considering the woodwinds too.

Not to be that guy, but doesn't this feel like selling individually what would in some parallel universe (i.e., one where this was called Albion Abbey Road instead of it being imagined as some new series with a new 'pricing scheme') be the legato patches in a comprehensive ensemble-patches orchestra set?
I mean - the 'Sparkling Woodwinds' sound fine, but it is what it is: Woodwind legato with Glock. You're not going to score chords with that, with a Glock on every note, so it's basically just a legato patch. And you don't get a Glock-less option? Honestly, I thought there was going to be a wealth of material in these add-on sets, not individual patches.

Actually you can turn the glock off and you can play chords on the WWs. Love the sound.. foreseeable issue is lack of range, seems quite limited, barely over 2 octaves.

These feel like single patches from the Symphobia series.

It occurs to me that these additions may be Spitfire's answer to Orchestral Tools' à la carte ordering. It's a similar piecemeal approach at least.
Best,

Great sounding to me, but I really miss a vibrato with these winds.

One free and one purchased here. Feeling they both will prove very useful in the days ahead.

Yes, the first time I played the Woodwinds, it took me a few minutes to realize that Overlay turned off the Glock...which I prefer off a lot of the time, thank you. And I agree that the range of the new WWs is limited. I set up the ARO Low Woodwinds with the Sparkling ones, and with a bit of reverb and some gentle playing was able to continue on down the keyboard after C3. BUT then again the low WW don't "sparkle" as much as the new WW, so the transition is a bit/very noticeable. However, it is a workaround, at least on the low end. But not everyone has ARO, so it that case, there can be a bit of a problem with the range. The range of the new basses seems fine though.

I don't have AR-1 , or any of the new expansions. I'm tempted to buy AR-1 Foundations, and the Legendary Low-Strings expansion before the AR-1 discount deal expires.
I wonder if the next expansion they release will be the mid-high Legato Strings ? I think this is a very important part that is missing at this time.

Why don’t you just buy the Low Strings expansion, Sculp? Dip your toes in the Abbey Road waters (the deep end of the pool) for a mere $49. Best $49 you can spend on orchestral samples these days, in my opinion.
One of the great things about Spitfire’s Abbey Road recordings is that, thanks to their amazingly versatile mixing options, you can combine them with just about anything, from upfront, dry-ish and detailed to spacious and lush.
Insert some of these samples into a mock-up and you immediately have added depth and dimension in your production, seriously.

Funny Piet - I was just thinking that exact thought. Of the two I prefer the Low Strings demos, so I might dip my toes in after all

Don' worry, I'm going to dip more than my toes in the AR-Waters
I decided to go for AR-Foundations, and the Legendary Low-Strings Expansion.
Yes, I think these AR-1 based libraries will be very versatile, and I can use them in many ways with my current sample libraries.
I'm also looking forward to more AR-1 expansions, and their AR-1 Modular Orch.
Thanks,
