Calling Eventide owners

Post by Guy Rowland »

Eventide are doing some good upgrade deals for their Anthology XI bundle. To see what you get, log into the website, go to the Anthology XI page, click the upgrade button and enter your iLok details. Mine wasn't spectacular so its an easy pass, but I've read some people getting an upgrade for $0, so worth a look.

I already own Anthology XI, there are enough keepers to make it worthwhile. I would probably entertain a deal on the H9 collection, but maybe not, there are only a couple of them that interest me, so it would have to be quite the deal.

Random thoughts on why I ended up buying the Anthology:
  • H3000 Factory - It's the H3000, nuff said! And quite possibly the only effects processor where I depend on the presets<G>!
  • H910 Harmonizer - what I really want it the predecessor, the 1745. I have enough parts to build a couple of them, but getting them working would be a huge deal, and right now is just not practical.
  • Instant Flanger Mk II & Instant Phaser Mk II - the reasons I bought the anthology, they were only available as part of it.
  • Quadravox - this one I like, the Octavox is a little much.
  • UltraTap - and I am a sucker for delays.
  • EQ 65 - I used these a lot in broadcast studios, so they are familiar.
  • Physion - I did not expect to like this, I didn't even really understand what it could do. It is a very specialized effect, and gets little use, but when find a use I love it.
  • 2016 Stereo Room - I have no idea what makes this so cool, but it is cool!
  • Blackhole & MangledVerb - definitely effects, and I use them for sound design, can't recall ever using them in a mix.
  • I never cared for the Omnipressor, and the model is accurate enough that I don't care for it either<G>!
Try these at your own risk, or at least at the risk of your own wallet!

Postscript - now that I have the instant Phaser & Flanger the only dinosaur I'm still hunting is the Ursa Major - an early reverb device that had a very unique sound. There was a PT plugin that was supposed to be pretty good, but it has gone by the wayside, and so far no one has created a dedicated VST.

Ubermod from Valhalla can get the vibe, and so can Polaris from Audiority, but I'd love an actual emulation. (Christopher Moore, the guy that designed the original Space Station, and many others, did an updated hardware version about 15 years ago. If you are curious search for Seven Woods Audio SST-206.
