New instrument coming from In Session Audio. Here’s what they have to say about it.:
We are pleased to announce that upcoming release of Taiko Creator.
Huge, deep and powerful, Japanese taiko drums often underpin the music for epic movies across all genre. Taiko Creator is a virtual instrument sample library that produces “that sound” in a new and more powerful way.
Where most libraries present limited variations, Taiko Creator allows you to create, control and generate multiple solo and ensemble groups of your own, all playable from a single interface.
Featuring a purpose built engine with an innovative yet simple-to-use feature set, Taiko Creator is a match for anyone producing cinematic percussion tracks.
Just to be clear, Kyle is a good friend but I have no affiliation with In Session Audio.

Sounds really good. Are the sounds taken from Ten Man Taiko or are they all new recordings?
Re: In Session Audio / Taiko Creator
All new recordings and programming. It’s pretty slick even though I don’t have a lot of use for Taiko.

Ask me anything, last half a year was spent in making of this library (among other things).

Were you involved in the recording, Mario?

Where did the midi grooves come from? Like who made them?

Nope, just scripting.

According to the VIC thread they are all new recordings. Picked it up and it sounds great. Though for me I prefer the clean sound of turning the unity knob and fx off, it does give a nice, thicker sound when unity is at default (halfway), but be aware the samples themselves are much cleaner recordings than the defaults first let on.
Between the amount of Taiko and other drums (each with stick clacks) and cymbals and other goodies (some I have nowhere else, maybe LADD?) it’s well worth the $99. Kudos to Mario for one of the coolest interfaces this year, lots of control. Maybe slightly too big (barely fits on my 1080x1920 spare screen for Kontakt) but after years of squinting at Spitfire interfaces, I’m not going to complain.

I just spoke with Kyle - he said:
"Sean Beeson and I wrote the midi grooves. He and I recorded Taiko 2 together and he’s a very talented writer and can write drum parts with finesse"

I really like the grooves, actually. Very well made. A bit busy at times, but surely I can count on myself to dumb them down...

Ah man, I was just feeling proud of myself for bringing insert effects to my newest GUI. Incredible work, that's some scripting. How's your sanity? All looks and sounds great!

I can understand FX off, but Unity is extremely essential. You won't get an ensemble of players hitting their drums at exactly the same millisecond, no way (which is what Unity being off is). Then it's not an ensemble at all. And in extreme cases you might even get some phasing because the same RR gets played twice (if the same element is being loaded more than once across multiple groups)...
I cannot take all the credit. It's all Kyle's vision in the end, after lots of brainstorming sessions of what should go where, then some back-and-forth to iron things out. But the actual breathtaking graphics work is all done by Voger Design - these people rule!
Pretty great, actually - all things considering!
