Any issues with Spitfire's new player a 1st time buyer should be aware of?

Post by 1gc »

Hello!
I'm looking at purchasing my 1st Spitfire library, their new Solo Strings.
From what I've read, Spitfire is now using a new gui, or player, not sure of which.
Can anyone offer any opinions about whether this new approach of theirs has any negatives in usage, ie, a higher cpu hit, buggy workflow issues, etc.
Thanks very much for the input.

Hi,

Their new Solo Strings uses Kontakt, and with the latest update of the library, it works fine, no issues.

Cheers,

Thanks Muziksculp.
I knew they used the Kontakt player, There was some talk about them redesigning the way their gui worked and some unhappiness with the changes. I at the time didn't own any Spitfire libs so didn't pay any attention.
But that's about to change, thus the inquiry.
Thanks for your fast, and comforting response.

Just a thought, they have some free instruments in the new player that you might try. They are certainly far less complex than the high end stuff, but it should still give some idea. They even have some free strings.

I had a bug with their player in Cubase 9.5 while trying the 'soft piano'.
(not a show-stopper - a notification window replicating ad-infinitum when closing the project)
Made a note to report it but hadn't had the time yet.
