Re: Need suggestion for percussion libraries

Take a listen to the Drumstruck series from The UnFinished (Kontakt-based). They’re a little understated out of the box, but I think you could get some similar sounds. Also, some of his soundsets for various synths. AVA and Keepforest have some similar stuff I believe, although I’m not as familiar. Y ...

Re: Steinberg 50% off sale

Noteperformer works with Dorico Mike. Noteperformer is one of the most important programs for me, so I wouldn't want to miss it. I bought Dorico, but I will probably wait to activate until after Dorico 6 has been released. If the Steinberg upgrade trick works, my license should activate Dorico 6 ...

Re: Steinberg 50% off sale

As a Cubase user, Dorico is 168 CHF for me. Good offer, I think I'll actually jump ship from my version of Sibelius that I haven't updated in years. Thinking I may move to Dorico from Sibelius as well, Linos. Although, truth be told, I don’t use notation programs very often — usually for marching pe ...

Re: Small but significant studio improvements

Thanks for sharing, Piet! I almost bought the OlloAudio S4X headphones last year, but my wife ended up getting me the HifiMan Ananda headphones instead. I’ve just been plugging my headphones directly into my Apollo, but now you’ve got me curious about this Drawmer unit.

PanBox plug-in

Are any of you using PanBox? I bought this a couple of months ago and it’s been my go-to for panning for just about everything, mainly just using the Smart Pan feature. For orchestral use, it seems to have given me move convincing results over stereo panning + sample delay, different than other plug- ...

Re: USB Hubs

I have a CalDigit TS3 Plus and a 4-port Anker hub (for license dongles) with my Mac Studio. Previously, I used a 7-port Anker USB hub which worked great with my iMac but, for whatever reasons, wasn’t playing nice with the Mac Studio. The CalDigit has worked flawlessly for me thus far although I’ve on ...

Re: Audio Ollie Nashville Scoring Strings - $60 sale

I grabbed them at this discount thinking they might be nice as an additional layer of strings. I do appreciate that they have a drier, studio sound as well as the "orchestral" option for all articulations.

For anyone considering new monitors, Output's Frontier monitors are 25% off. That brings them down to ~$1,050.

Re: Kush Silika / dual diode compressor

This is wonderful feedback, Piet. Thank you!

I know the following is not a compressor, but an EQ that was mentioned above. The Clairphonic. Is that one of those tools you're happy with (assuming you own it)? Definitely considering it with what's been said above.

Re: Man Makes Noise releases The Jumalauta for Kontakt 5

This sounds really nice! Really like the sound of the natural pluck especially when you filtered it back a bit and added some reverb within the instrument. I'll be picking this up for sure! Thanks for sharing!

Re: Wallet Storage

Small world! I was drum section leader (first chair) in high school. I was told that the marching band was still playing the cadence I wrote twenty years after I graduated. (I have no idea whether they're still playing it today, as I rarely go back to my hometown. Thanks, Mike , again for your ...

Re: Wallet Storage

Thanks for that info on Drumline Mike, it had passed me by entirely. Demo sounds great. I like Tonehammer's Drum Crops well enough, but I agree their snares do sound spectacular. Guy, I have that one as well. What I like about that one is ability to use in the instruments inside as well as outside ...
