The Beatles would not have been quite The Beatles without his musicality. And by all accounts, a really nice man.

I think of George as the fifth Beatle. Billy Preston has to come in at number six.

For me the joy of the man (and I did meet him more than once) was the way he proved that civility, musical training and open ears can have a valued place amongst the other more publicity-friendly attributes of the pop music industry! Rest in peace, George.
