Fable Sounds BOwTOWN Express strings

This was sent to me as an existing customer, and isn't being made public yet. But it's on YouTube and they haven't said not to actually share it or anything, it seemed churlish not to share the love.

As the name suggests, it's squarely aimed at Motown / old school pop / disco / RnB strings. The first thing to say is that just the violins are available to existing customers ONLY right now for $179 (RRP $229). Non-Broadway series users will have to wait for the release of the full package, where I think you can buy just the violins or the whole lot. I couldn't see any reference to the cost of the full strings package or when that will be available, but to existing customers they say "if you choose to buy BOwTOWN Express violins now, once the full version of comes out, you'll be a able to upgrade to the full version for less than the price difference between the two products. So, buying now is guaranteed to save you money later".

It's quite a detailed walkthrough - if you want to jump to the quick demos go to 20 minutes in. They say the demos feature the violins and Alphas of the rest of the series.

Thanks for posting, Guy! As a non-existing customer I'm glad to get a heads-up on this.

The raw sound appeals to me quite a bit and I find myself needing it quite often, actually. From that POV, would be interesting to have it under my fingers.

Once we get to the in-context examples, though, things start falling apart - connections are quite as smooth as they should be and the Violins, while retaining that grit I like, start sounding small, unlike the productions he references, which I remember differently (could be wishful thinking though, who knows).

If you go for it, I would love to have a report back!

I don't think I will, at least not now - I don't have a specific need tbh but I like the idea.

I think I am no longer interested in virtual instruments/libraries that need much key switching. The kind of music I am creating just doesn't need that many articulations.

I was explaining key-switches to my wife. (Automated key-switch creation is one of the selling features for Koda.) She told me the only switch my music needs is an off switch.

Women can be so cruel sometimes...
