oops! AudioBro 1, Bill 0

The price for Modern Scoring Strings was really tempting, and I did have a few bucks left over from Christmas shopping, so I let my weaker side rule and picked up MSS complete.
I didn't think I needed another string library, but after a day or two I am beginning to think that maybe I did. It sounds great, and has enough features and tricks to keep me busy for a while.
Anyone want to share some tips?

No tips to share Bill. I don't have any Audiobro library. But I'm curious to know why you chose Modern Scoring Strings over LASS 3. The two are so similar in terms of features that I'd have a hard time choosing.

Sound. The differences range from subtle to obvious, and I really like the sound. I am comparing the two, in my place, so I did manage to reduce the variables (I have LASS Lite).
I really like the recorded scales and octaves, probably won't use them a lot, but when I need them...
I think I still prefer the shorts in LASS 3, and my upgrade price is ridiculously tempting, I need to find out if that is only during the sale.
Then again, NOW I have enough string libraries (said on one ever!)

Wrong, I say it.

Let us know how you like MSS Bill! I like that it comes with three mic mixes, close, stage, and surround. The one mic mix in LASS3 sounds a bit difficult to work with. But I do like the bite and directness in LASS3. It's not a sound for everything. But when you need rough and edgy, LASS has it. MSS sounds more versatile in comparison.

Only about a dozen, four or five of which I use most of the time.

I could never bond with MSS sound, there is some resonance in the room that I cannot un-hear in all the mics that throws me off.
I only use the ostinatos.
Still looking for a strings library that can pull mahler´s 9 begining though

Because your clients are clamoring for that?

no, it was a way of saying what kind of articulation never works with samples, and then you have to ban it when composing, and it´s a pity. It was that expression or posting a picture of the score.
or Maybe my clients are different than yours.

Orchestral musicians are orchestral musicians and samples are samples.
One is never going to be able to do everything the other is able to and if you try to compose for them identically, you are always going to be frustrated.
I don’t necessarily orchestrate identically even for people who play the same instruments. Back in my musical director days I quickly learned that things I could write for LA musicians without problems would not work well when we had musicians in Omaha.

Jay - you can add to your achievements that you long ago dissuaded me from treating sample libraries like people. Currently I try to write to the libraries strengths (I have a long way to go before know them well). If I did not mention it, I finally caved and purchased a license for Hollywood Opus Orchestra. It took some time to get comfortable with their player, but I can get around now, and yes, they sound great. Next time I have pocket change I'll probably buy the Fantasy Orchestra (that will be a while!)
Other than that I use strings from a handful of other libraries, I've even gotten pretty good at guessing which one to start with
