It was bound to happen sooner or later. On several occasions VSL have said that they will not abandon their VI series. With the port to the Synchron Player ('Synchron-ize') they are keeping that promise, sort of. I am a bit sad to see the VI Player go. I find it easier to work with than the Synchron Player. But I understand that keeping two proprietary players afloat is too much in this industry. Most developers have more than enough to do to get one player up and running.

What will happen to the Silent Stage? Will it be decommissioned? It looks like recording in an ambient hall is now the future for VSL. Until the Synchron series is finished. Then maybe modelling? VSL is being forward thinking about all this. Still, it's a part of sampling history that will become defunct at the end of next year.

I’m wondering if Solo Strings 1 might be worth the discounted price.

I have Special Edition Vol 1, and Epic Orchestra (which came with VEPro). I really like them, and have considered expanding on them, but the cost was just too high considering other libraries I have that cover the same ground (just differently <G>).

Now I'm not so sure, I may splurge and pick up Special Edition Vol 2 and the extended versions for volumes 1 & 2. I can't see me getting much use from the other volumes, well maybe volume 4?

These libraries have a very different workflow, it isn't bad, it is a little complex to learn, and you can get some really good results.

Still, I have every one of these areas covered already, usually more than once. Makes it difficult.
