Bitwig and Presonus join forces to create DAWproject format

Interesting - an attempt from these two companies to create an open file format for DAWs, called DAWproject. It includes:

Time format of beats and seconds, tempo, time sig
Audio clips, fades, crossfades, amplitude, pan, time warping and transpose
Note expressions
Midi messages, volume, pan, mute, sends, plugin parameters, built in device parameters
Plugins including automation of VST2, VST3, AU and CLAP

More info here - https://www.bitwig.com/stories/bitwig-a ... grams-271/

This can only be a good thing, and can only be a lot better than midi or AAF exports. That said, I don't think it can fully replace any DAWs own formats, there would be way too many specifics that wouldn't be included.

yeah, but you don't really need all the nitty gritty details if you are working together with someone. No it won't be one for one, but as you say, it will be worlds better than past attempts at file interchange.
