Hi everyone,

Towards the end of this month, Avid will release the next full version of Pro Tools, and it will include a public beta that enables Pro Tools to run it natively on Apple M1 and M2 processors.

The plan is to deliver an official and qualified native Apple silicon-supported version in early 2023, but because we now have the core Pro Tools app working natively, we decided to give early adopters the chance to run it in a public beta. This way if users choose, they can test the improved performance on their M1/M2 machines before the fully native version gets released in early 2023.

For M1/M2 users who choose to toggle-on the public beta, some features and plugins will become unavailable. We are also working with all our 3rd party partners to get their silicon compatibility completed as quickly as possible. A full list will be made available upon its release later in December.

This full December release will be available for all Pro Tools customers on an active subscription or running a perpetual license with a current Software Updates + Support Plan. Users of our free version, Pro Tools Intro, will also be able to test the public beta.

Stay tuned... More info to come.

Out today. It’s a single installer for 2022.12 which by default runs in non-beta mode. M1/M2 users can then uncheck a “run in Rosetta compatibility mode” box in App / Get Info to enter the silicon Beta mode.

There’s a round of bug fixes (including many pertaining to a still-buggy ARA2) and a few new features for everyone. Release notes here - https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/artic ... ease-Notes
