Passing this along here:

Introducing: Miroire—period instruments and voices
A modern sample collection with a historic sound, Miroire includes a collection of period instruments and vocals inspired by an earlier era—all recorded with specialist musicians. Access sounds that reflect another time to build scores for period dramas or fantasy-themed TV shows, films, and games.

Miroire features stylized vocal sounds plus specially prepared instruments to evoke the music of three centuries ago. Singing vowels from 18th century liturgy, the choir offers pure, natural tones with little vibrato. Coloratura legato enables fast ornamentations.

String instruments use gut strings and period bows for warm tonality with complex overtones. Winds made from soft woods and using few mechanics provide a mellow, intimate timbre. And valveless brass instruments deliver a full sound.

At exactly the same time. What are the odds. Mirroring each other, as it were.

What a coincidence! Pretty mystique.

Instant Buy for me.

I have been waiting for a sample library developer to offer an authentic Baroque orchestra library for 3 decades, finally OT delivered it.

Another release that keeps me on the road of “Anyone else finding it hard to buy anything at all?”. I find the idea of a baroque instrument library good as it is something that has not been done - at least not in detail. But after Tallinn I am a burnt child. They did not fix the ugly, bumpy and sometimes unusable legato transitions in that library and I can already hear the same problems with these again - maybe not to the same extent, but there are definitely problems.

Overpriced and incomplete in my opinion....anyone else feel this way? No Harpsichord, No percussion...Sure OT has other products for that...but at this price....:(

I think this is a clear niche product. Most people will say no to this, as they only want modern-sounding orchestral scoring elements. Of course you may say, you could use this library in another context and than it would be modern, but that is not how the vast majority of people are thinking.

For a niche library I wouldn't say it is too expensive, but the content would have to be top notch to justify that price. Without owning it, I cannot say it with certainty, but I don't think it is that good.

No harpsichord because there's Berlin Harpsichords and god known that look long enough to get right :) Similarly to timpani Berlin Percussion, there was no point in recording something twice (and having people pay twice).
As for percussion... I genuinely do not know, but am curious myself :)

Yes Tobias, I know you have other products for that. But as a set of Baroque instruments this one is incomplete while having the price of a complete set of instruments.

Its disappointing to see this in the sample world where I am expected to pay a lot of money and still be satisfied with an incomplete product.

Anyway, I suppose you have enough sales to satisfy you so maybe its not my place to comment.

Hi @Tobias Escher,

Thank You for making Miroire , I always wished a Baroque Orchestral Library was developed, so I give you a big round of applause for being the first sample developer to do so, and I'm looking forward to enjoy this library once it is released on Sept. 2nd.

Noting that Miroire is not a complete Baroque Library, it is a good starting point, i.e. I wish I had a Solo Baroque Violin, Viola and Cello, and a Solo Baroque Bassoon, also some of the exotic sounding Baroque Percussion, I have your Baroque Timpani from the Berlin Timpani Exp. , I also have your Berlin Harpsichord, so I understand why you didn't include a Harpsichord in Miroire.

So, an Expansion Library for Miroire that offers these instruments would be awesome, and an instant buy. The choirs in Miroire are nice to have, but I would have not complained if you didn't include them, honestly, I would have rather had more instruments like the ones I mentioned.

Another instrument that I would love to have is a very well sampled, and very playable Viola Da Gamba.

I'm very happy that you included a good selection of Baroque Solo Woodwind, and Brass instruments in Miroire, those are so valuable to have. Thanks !

On another note, I'm also looking forward to see OT port the remaining Berlin Series libraries to SINE, and hopefully a new version of SINE that offers more features, and works with Berlin Symph. Strings as far as the Mic-Merge functionality is concerned. I also hope you can fix some of the noises in some of the Berlin Symphonic Strings library.

Wish You All The Best,
Muziksculp

As good a walkthrough as a walkthrough can be, I find. Really well done.
Pretty good and capable library too, in my view. A few little things in there which one could remark critically about, I suppose, but all in all: if one's going to do a baroque-styled sample library -- historically informed yet with contemporary possibilities as well -- within the limitations determined by the budget and, I assume, also working towards an as-broad-as-possible appeal, I don't really see how you could do it any better than the way Orchestral Tools has done it with Miroire. Nice. I tip my peruke.

Did you notice the Berlin Strings, and Berlin Woodwinds are played in SINE ?

Hopefully, this is a signal that they are not too far away from releasing them in SINE.

Looking forward to Sept. 2nd, to enjoy using Miroire.
