Not sure if it was the best idea to call one’s company ‘Sketch Samples’ as it sort of suggests a low-level range of product that is only good for preliminary and superficial noodling work, to be replaced with better product from some other developer as soon as things get a bit more serious.

The thing is, what Sketch Samples have released so far is, in my view, much better than what the self-effacing ‘sketch’ notion might suggest. Not the final word in guitar sampling of course, certainly not, but still: good-sounding, versatile and surprisingly powerful (acoustic) guitar emulations. Their maiden release, the Sketch Nylon, while lacking the technical sophistication of, say, an Efimov or an AmpleSounds virtual guitar, is a remarkably capable little library (and very intuitive to play), and what I’ve heard thus far from their newest release, the gypsy-flavoured D-Hole Guitar, sounds quite good too, I must say.

Very affordable as well. The D-Hole sells for an introductory $49, the Nylon is set at the regular price of $59.

Thanks for shining a light on them - I had not heard of them.

Their D-Hole guitar sounds very good, and whoever created those mock-ups understood a thing or two about gypsy guitar. If I were not in the midst of a couple of upgrades to my little studio I'd probably grab it. As it is, $59 is not too much, and I will revisit it when the time comes.

Cool! This is within two weeks the second manouche guitar library I didn’t know about. Django and now this … the pricing is difficult to resist, I must say! It seems, django has recorded chords and this one just offers some chugga-chugga noises? In the demos, the chords seem to be the weaker part, but still ok. The melodic lines are excellent IMO.
