The thread title says it all.

Developers will start to embrace UVI more and more!

I love the idea of real competition for Kontakt, but Flacon has a lot of ground to make up. I don't have Falcon and I know some people like where it is going. Is it truly ready to be a replacement for Kontakt?

As i wrote many times on that "other forum" the more viable sample engines, the healthier for all of us. Remember Gigastudio?

We all would be wise to use multiple ones. I use Play, Kontakt, Engine, UVI Workstation and the EXS24. While obviously they have different capabilities I am philosophically married to idea of using as many as I can.

I tend to use Kontakt most of the time out of habit. I should use EXS more often. Need to put that in my new template.

Competition is always fine when it forces vendors to not get fat and lazy, but really I'm ok with Kontakt. Other than a handfull bugfixes (legato hanging keys, for one) and performance tunings, I only would like to see importers for Engine and UVI ;)

I buy the product, not the platform. Except in the case of Play, I havent had any problems with alternate platforms, and Play's problems seem workable.. Reputation is going to be a problem: I know people question Engine, for example.

Falcon is good for competition.

Falcon is good for competition, but according to Evil Dragon it isn't multi core enabled and probably never will be. Vital if its to be a serious contender in the multi gigabyte library world of Spitfire etc.

UVI Workstation needs a way to fully purge samples like Kontakt too.

On the other hand, Kontakt has KSP. Inflicting this language on well-meaning developers is just a terrible, cruel thing. I haven't wanted to gouge my eyeballs so much since coding in PHP -- that I would take PHP over KSP is speaks volumes if you have ever been subjected to my rants about PHP. :) Meanwhile UVI Workstation scripting is based on Lua which is far more sensible.

I am surprised to hear that UVI Workstation doesn't support SMP. That's astounding, in this day and age.

Evil Dragon has mentioned elsewhere there is a interesting update for Kontakt in the works.

For me, its been S760's to Kontakt and Im fine with that.

S760s to Halion to Kontakt here, plus forays into Play and Mach Five.

The real plus Falcon has against Kontakt is a stellar synth/fx engine plus good sampling. On pure sample playback it has a long way to beat Kontakt.
