ProjectSAM: Adaptive Runs, plus updates to Animator and Orchestrator

Adaptive Runs

ADAPTIVE RUNS is the smartest and most intuitive orchestral runs library yet. Tapping from a vast audio pool, with runs ranging from a 4th interval to 4 octaves, ADAPTIVE RUNS perfectly and effortlessly syncs to your track, allowing you to keep focusing on your composition.

Originally developed for Symphobia 4: Pandora, the Adaptive Sync engine syncs the orchestral runs to the next downbeat, or any custom number of beats or seconds. The engine automatically picks the best matching recording, then tweaks it further so that it hits the mark exactly. Turning off synchronization automatically reloads the samples in disk streaming mode, a useful feature in low-RAM situations.

The Range toggle allows you to quickly switch to a run with either a narrower or wider orchestrated range, all while maintaining the other sync settings.

ADAPTIVE RUNS will become your new go-to runs library from the moment you start using it.

Available Thursday December 3rd for €149 / $169!

I'll be doing a little video on this in the coming few days.

I think I really like the new design of the GUI. just looking on my phone so hard to tell.

What do you think of the new look Guy?

As someone resistant to change I wasn't sure initially, but I've very quickly adapted. Much cleaner, and there's now more useful control over all kinds of parameters so I can better set it up as I like it (eg changing from velocity articulation switching to CC in Animator).

These updates are now on Native Access btw.

And only just realised there's a 48 hour sale on everything else too - 30% off store-wide.

Any thoughts on how the forthcoming Adaptive Runs would compare with similar existing products? I love that it’s tempo synced and offered continuous ups/downs, but I’m not so pleased that it’s relegated to just major and minor scales.

That info in Animator is a welcome addition! Looking forward to your new video, Guy :)

Yes sadly it's just major and minor, the only exception is that there are chromatic runs available for trumpet only.

By way of some compensation, one thing you can do is shorten (and lengthen) to just a few notes, which is something my other run libraries can't do, so they're good for smaller flourishes or grace notes. And of course its great to have different sections on faders, all under the one roof.

Needless to say, the tempo syncing options are terrific, the same engine as Pandora.

I love how Project Sam update their libraries, even when you think they have ‘finished’ a library, up they pop with an interesting update.

I also am very much looking forward to another Guy Rowland video extravaganza...I hope he will tone down the graphic sex and violence this time though....

That may well make it worth it for the price! HWO and EWQSO both have runs patches - with the former including recorded runs as well - so there may be some flexibility to stitch the three together.

Interesting.

The most useful for me would be Adaptive Runs.

But I wonder if they will blend nicely with other developer's libraries ? Or are they optimized to be used with ProjectSam's other libraries ?

Any feedback on this detail would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I can only say that Cinesamples string runs and Hollywoodwinds runs have blended just fine with anything I used them for.

Hi Lawrence,

Thanks for the helpful feedback.

That's very interesting, since I don't use any runs libraries, I was concerned about the blending factor. So, I'm guessing this should carry over to ProjecSam's Adaptive Runs library as well.

They currently have only one very short video about it. Hopefully they will post more videos to show it in more action scenarios before Dec. 3rd.

Cheers,
Muziksculp

Yeah, it’s just not so hard to blend them. Cheers.

Here's my typically fumbling real-world overview (with a quick look at the updated UIs for Animator and Orchestrator at the end).

Just got around to watching you video Guy. Excellent job as always. Really appreciate you doing these. I missed the black friday deals and of course, I could really use Animator and this new one on a project I am working on. Most likely will purchase them this week. Could have saved a few bucks had I planned ahead, but what cha going to do?

Cheers

Hey Guy, my only issue is that they sound a bit too perfect. If you turn off quantize and position it so that the runs end exactly on the downbeat, does it help with that?

Hi Jay - quantize is always on when in sync to downbeat mode (you can offset for half bars), but if you want it just a bit off you can remove quantize and use it in beats mode. So if you have it set to 2 bars and then you hit the key, say 65ms early, it will land 65ms ahead of the beat in 2 bars time, old school, bypassing all its tricks.

I mean the notes within the run.

Oh, forgive - I don't think there's anything really that can be done there. There are lots of variations and different lengths of course, but they are recorded as phrases ultimately.

Hmmm, maybe just a bit too perfect for me, not sure, though.
