The VSL Big Bang series is one I haven’t given much attention thus far, I must confess, but the four latest additions — all brass — might change that.

• Hercules / Low Brass
• Izar / Low Brass Clusters
• Jupiter / 6 Horns
• Kopernikus / 4 Trumpets

“Hercules features 4 bass trombones, a bass tuba and optional a contrabass tuba played as ensemble. As always with multiple mics + additional close mics. Up to five velocity layers, from emotional pianissimo up to brassy and striking fortississimo, and real legato recordings, glissandos, swells, flutter tonguing, trills and more! Izar consists of the same ensemble as Hercules, but played as clusters. All the same articulations with the exception of legatos. (intro-price: € 55, reg € 85)

It does sound great, doesn't it? I just wish they would stop with these trailer style packs and already get on with their Synchron Brass I. I think that could become quite good. I suppose those micro libraries sell easier and that is why they continue releasing these. I bought the first Big Bang volume because it sounded great, but after that I stopped. This is actually great stuff and I will probably pick it up at some point. But only after I have seen some commitment towards bigger libraries with a complete articulation set as a goal.

Picked this up, and it is in fact good. Needs a little high end added, but overall a very good sound.

There seems to be no marcato, tho. Even tho it's listed in the player GUI. I select marc, and get sus instead. Sent an email to support; waiting on a reply.
