Info available at the Spitfire site, but current users of their Evo products received the following:

"We want to inform you of the new upgrade coming to the Evo Grid 1, Evo Grid 2 and Evo Grid 4 libraries. As you own one or more of these libraries you are eligible for the free upgrade(s).

Introducing the new libraries — Angular String Evolutions (formerly Evo Grid 1), Fragile String Evolutions (formerly Evo Grid 2) and Woodwind Evolutions (formerly Evo Grid 4). As well as the same content we all know and love, the update reimagines the evolution grid inside its own dedicated easy-to-use plugin, with the addition of an all-new selection of expertly curated presets created by our team, for instant playability and inspiration.

What do you do next? — You will receive an order confirmation email from us as we process your upgrade, and then you will receive another email informing you when your download is ready.

Can I keep using the Kontakt libraries? — Yes, you don’t have to download the new versions and even if you do, you can keep the old and new versions of the product if you like."

Hmm...just the other day someone asked me if Sable was still available from Spitfire or they if they had discontinued it? Why are the re-naming their products?

It's way more than just a renaming. The Evos have been updated and altered and they now run in Spitfire's own engine. Some will like that, some will not, but the updates are free and one can also keep using the older Kontakt versions if they wish.

But, it is still a renaming - and they have done this often. It gets very confusing. It doesn't sit well with me - it seems like a gimmick to sell more stuff - always having something "new". I get there is more stuff added and a new engine, but why not all it Evo 2.o or something?

Good lord. That GUI is the size of a house.

Wow, it sure is. I'm afraid I'm not a fan of Spitfire's new design language. I'm much more in tune with what I saw of OT's new UI.

I don't mind the renaming so much. Angular String Evolutions brings us closer to more memorable naming -- it's closer to Sable than it is to Spitfire Chamber Strings -- and I think that's a good thing.

I was delighted when they renamed Sable. I got it for roughly 25% of the original price, and they’d apparently fixed all sorts of gremlins. Rename away, sez I.

Thing is, they had these tiny unreadable crisscross bars of pullers on their UIs and now they come with these huuuuge plates that scream Hey, I'm the new boss in town !

I always found it kind of odd that Spitfire went for such a minimalist UI.

If there's a group of people who rejoice in an interface full of knobs, sliders and switches it's musicians and synth heads...

Minimalist in controls, but maximalist in footprint. :)

Same here. I have soooo much stuff to keep track of the last thing I need is keeping track of and cross referencing same products with different names. I’ll pass on these ‘updrades’, or is it an ‘update’. Can’t remember.
