Orange Tree Samples has released Evolution Rick 12, a vintage 12-string electric guitar sample library powered by Native Instruments' Kontakt Player. Evolution Rick 12 was developed in collaboration with Rosewood Recording Company in Utah. Guy Randle, the owner and recording engineer at Rosewood Recording Company, incorporated analog audio equipment to emphasize and accentuate the vintage tonal qualities of the 12-string guitar. The library includes both an as-is direct input signal from the guitar as well as an enhanced signal.
For the sampling session, he brought guitarist Michael Dowdle. Michael Dowdle's session guitar work includes recording for artists such as Marie Osmond, The Osmond Brothers, John Schneider, David Archuleta, and The Jets as well performing on numerous movie and TV scores. He has also played on stage with artists like Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, The Coasters, Sam Cardon, and countless others.

Key features:
- Over 5,600 samples, totaling 4.25 GB of uncompressed samples.
- Articulations such as sustains, palm mutes, mutes, natural harmonics, plus special effects such as chugs, scratches, string slaps, and others.
- Legato samples for slides, hammer-ons, and pull-offs.
- Built-in strum pattern editor for authentic guitar strumming.
- Adjustable pick position using our proprietary physical modeling technology.
- Multitracking up to quadruple tracking.

I'm not sure I got that archetype 60's/70's sound from the demos, but I'm hoping it's in there. I've been wanting that for years and been surprised no one has done it.

I don't get it seeing as, a certain trick was employed when recording such a sound.

Sure doesn't sound like George Harrison or Roger McGuinn to me.

All the best to Orange Tree, but personally, I simply don't need or want any more guitars. Also finding the market is becoming saturated.

Hi Larry. No I don't have a good sounding 60s electric 12 string, and perhaps I should also have clarified my comment . I do have access to someone who does and can play it well, I'm not a guitarist, and I already have more than enough guitar VSTis for my personal use. I didn't mean to suggest that others might not be interested in this latest release, or wouldn't find it useful though. In addition, I hardly ever use some of the guitar libraries I already have, and have found that with Amp plugins I can severely change the sound of the ones I do have to meet my needs. So really what I was implying was that, personally, I don't need this product. Just my own opinion, of course. I expect many others will find it useful......at least I hope they do.

Frank, on the basis of this thread I've actually been trying to figure out if I might want to pick up a cheap electric 12 string instead, maybe a used Danlectro.
Problem is my studio partner and I have 2 electrics, two acoustics and a bass already-we're running out of room.hmm.

I hear you, Larry.....my associate has 7 guitars...and counting.. and occasionally works in a music store where he's always tempted to buy more! Fortunately I'm not the one who has to find room for them all. My toys take up enough space as it is. Personally I've not heard much about an Danlectro, but out of curiosity will inquire further when he returns from a tour. Cheers.
