The Sound Board

I find it pretty much as the others have, a wondrous trove of sugary goodness. gtrwll, I'm also deliriously fond of the harp / vibe combo. Some lovely mildly chilling gritty stuff in the low strings that doesn't sound cliched - indeed, that's a recurring theme for me, it feels like there's a lot of fresh takes on old cinematic tropes. It feels like a very good addition to what I have, little redundancy and a good deal of it should find a use somewhere, someday.

The main semi-issue I have with it so far is I find the structure of how the patches laid out incredibly confusing. There seem to be very similarly labelled folders, all containing different variations from each other. It took me a while to find any brass at all, but its there alright, hidden in a couple of the sub-sub folders. I think I might rearrange the whole lot so as it makes sense to me, I can see me failing to find anything in a hurry.

BTW, download speed was incredible, had the whole 40gb done in half an hour, pretty much the best library download experience I've had. It didn't show up for me in Kontakt at first, turns out I had to update it to 5.8.1.

Have you noticed that quite a lot of it is heavily inspired by Johansons score of arrival? A very good score, I must say! Sad that he is gone, now.

Ah interesting - I've not really heard that score in isolation, only in the movie and I remember it worked very well and felt fresh. (and yes, tragic indeed).

I couldn't stop myself, all rearranged and batch resaved (in its own folder so I still have the original just in case I screwed something up). It now goes:

1. Orchestra
2. Strings
3. Brass
4. Choir
5. Harps and Vibes
6. Altered Time

Then subfolders for sections (if needed) then folders for multis, separate instruments and the TM versions of the same. Feels far more logical to me.

For now I just leave the word "wow!"

Back to playing around (and creating multis, very rewarding and think useful!)

Yes, this makes sense.. if you hate woodwinds! But seriously, I never made it past the 10 multi patches and 3 combined patches. Seems pretty simple when it’s all in 13 patches, but hey, that’s me. I get the feeling like on a lot of OT releases they will send out a 1.1 with a new organization and bug fixed in a month or two anyway.

Poor woodwinds - always forgotten! (Actually appears as number 4 on the hard drive, even though I was apparently so bored of them they never made it to this list).
