Re: Black Friday - the essential guide
Only Spitfire knows for sure, but since Albion One is so 'new', I would guess it may not be on sale just yet. Perhaps they may do a % of ALL products though, so we'll just have to wait and see.gdugan wrote:Does Spitfire Audio do Black Friday sales on any of their products? Specifically I'm looking at Albion One.
EDIT: Spitfire have now posted that they are having a Black Friday sale starting Nov. 26 and they state: "Oh, and we'll also be discounting our entire individual product range by 25% off. WE NEVER DO THIS, so grab these bargains whilst you can!" So to me, "entire" suggests that will include Albion One. Hope that helps.

Very happy with Temple Drums; they aren't the run-of-the-mill instruments, and are well recorded and produced. Great bargain at that price.mickeyl wrote:Aah, very tempting... tough sound.jtnyc wrote:Does anyone have SoundIron's Temple Drums? The demos sound really good and at $32 it looks like a real bargain.

And KVR here - http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... a3a59a7183 - both worth a scan for a more comprehensive list.Nominder wrote:There is a list here

The purpose of this thread is to highlight those likely to be the most important to the folks here. There can be literally hundreds of deals, and it's easy to go snowblind - hopefully this is clear and (relatively) brief.

Does anyone know if Slate Digital tends to do Black Friday sales?
Re: Black Friday - the essential guide
@devastat - I guess there's no guarantee for 2015, but this is from their Facebook Page last year:

For what it's worth, I haven't bought into the UAD hype and I don't miss it yet. The idea of offloading processing for minimal latency and conserving resources is the biggest selling point, I think, more than the plugins themselves. But now that computers are so powerful...it's less compelling, at least to me.
I could not disagree more. The plug-ins quality are the biggest selling point these days and for good reason. I would buy a UAD card just to have the EMT Plate 140, Ampex, Precision Multiband, and Roland Dimension D. The extra offload of processing power is a bonus

I really do love the quality of my UAD plugs, but the bonus for others is more of a need for me, as I have an aged DAW computer.
Re: Black Friday - the essential guide
Agreed, the UAD is quality. Your selling yourself short if you think it's hype Marius. When you start assigning quality EQ's or channel strips to each channel, sub, stem, etc. in a mix, and or have a Shadow Hills and Massive Passive on your master buss and strings having those offline Sharc chips comes in real handy. You can see the UAD Instance chart here for ie. http://www.uaudio.com/support/uad/compa ... chart.html
Then comes the versatility of a unit like the Apollo, which literally took the place of 8 boxes in my system (8 analog input, 8 analog output, 4 Mic Pres, Digital I/O, A/D-D/A conversion, Master Clock, Master control and its Thunderbolt connection which allows maximum bandwidth.
There is also the legacy of Putnam family and the involvement in musical recording history that is carried on which you can read here: http://www.uaudio.com/about/our-story
The only bad thing I can say about UA is the recent end of licensing agreement with Roland making those plugins not available any longer (but fine if you have them already).
Anyone tested the new tape plugin yet and how it differs sonically from the Studer and Apex ?
I am hoping to grab the Eventide this month. James

Re: Black Friday - the essential guide
I've had this discussion in another place with Jay over UAD EMT140 compared to Altiverb EMT140. Having never owned or used UAD hardware/software I obviously can not make up my own mind on the similarity or difference and it doesn't bother me at all.
If I add Altiverb EMT140 to a track I'm working on, I listen and decide if it improves or detracts from the sound I'm hoping to achieve.
'same with every other effects plugin I own. I either have the craft to create a pleasing sound or I don't, changing plugins will not alter that fact.
I surely have learned this lesson at great expense. One day soon I'll get into the plugin folder and remove all that never get use.
