Running the demo of Adaptiverb now. It is good for 30 days! It is beyond cool as a sound design tool. The verbs are rich and lush. If you can handle the CPU load it is super amazing. The intro price seems very affordable. Unfortunately I don't have that cash now. But I got 30 days to find a way! Download the demo! It really sounds amazing!

I gotta say, I really enjoyed his demo style. Sounds like a cool product. Don't know if it's something I need right now, but I'm very interested in hearing what you guys think once you've had it a while.

I do really like that he is doing something new and not trying to be another room sim. verb.

That is a fun demo, isn't it? They say at the end it's the whole mix through it, do you think that's true for the whole track or are there multiple instances elsewhere?

What's taking me a while to get my head around is that I guess it's pretty easy to get lovely ambient washes, but there are so many ways of getting ambient washes that this in itself isn't very appealing. However, getting that effect so clean on source material IS something new. I'd love to hear a lot more real instruments through it - brass, woods and - especially - voice. When my workload has calmed a little (and, er, the Olympics have finished), will have to try the demo.

Tangent - heard an amazing BBC radio interview a few weeks ago with an acoustics specialist Trevor Cox, who found a room somewhere in Scotland - a massive disused oil tank I think it was - with a world-record reverb time of 75s. He played in sax in there, it sounded fantastic, totally other-worldly. I thought at the time that, yes, there are plenty of ways to get that ambient sound design wash, but knowing it was a real space was very cool. My verb tandem of QL Spaces for each orchestral section with a little UAD Plate 140 for all has been to my ears just great and several friends have told me that they thought the sound rivaled expensive hardware.

But after playing with this for a while, I think it is going to replace them in my orchestral template. The "adaptive " quality and the lush yet incredibly pristine sound, plus the easy and intuitive controls, are just blowing my mind.

I just threw this together in a half an hour, nothing like a real mix (or a real composition:) It uses a single instance of Adaptiverb Rich Smooth Orchestral Hall.

Worth posting or does it do more harm than good?

Nice, Jay. What preset is this? Seems like it might need more tail out at the end but it does sound good. Is this on a send or an insert on a bus?

My first impression of AdaptaVerb was that it was a cool new effect processor, but thanks to this thread I've opened my mind, and started using it as a reverb.

As a special effect it is amazing.

Turns out as a reverb it is also amazing.

Lots to learn with this one!!

And Jay - by all means share away, I think the track sounds really nice, and I'm surprised that it is a single instance of reverb.

Anyone find the manual? It was not part of the demo download and I cannot seem to find it on the site.

I can't find it on the site either, but it does exist because a reviewer on the Time and Space web site mentions it. Perhaps it is included when one purchases? Are you still on the demo version, Jay?

For those using the demo there is a quick CPU trick I found on the control panel. I was having playing issues with latency as soon as the Altiverb was in place. On the upper left of the GUI there is a little watch icon. If you click that it delays the reverb and eliminates the playing latency. When you want to render the track you click that off.

The manual is opened by clicking on the "?" on the top left of the GUI.

This thing is great by the way, but it is a CPU eater!

To me that's a 'Help' file. What I was referring to was a downloadable .pdf "manual".

Frank, the Adaptiverb installation creates a "Zynaptic Plug-in Support" folder on your HD. On my Mac, it can be found in the Applications folder. And in that Zynaptic folder, you should find the Adaptiverb 46-page PDF-manual.
In case you don't, I've uploaded it here.

I can't test it cos i dont have Ilok2 here at the moment, but exactly how demanding is Adaptiverb?, to the point to exhaust completely an I7 in normal situation with a big template with lots of plugins, sends, VST Instruments etc?.

someone tested it with a big template?

I just did the briefest of tests earlier (very promising btw). I was using AsioGuard2 in Cubase, sending a vocal track to Adaptiverb via an aux. CPU meter didn't budge. I can only presume that's because of AG2 - most people do indeed report its very thirsty. AG2 seems to work incredibly well on auxes.

Thanks Guy, i just received the ilok2 replacement so i can test Adaptiverb in deep.

I'm liking this plugin more and more as I use it. My best results have been to put it on a Kontakt bus instead of a send. So spacious without the mud.

I have to be doing something wrong then because while it sounds kind of okay when music is running (clean, but also some unexpected too dry moments eventually though) as soon as the music stops the heard tail is just psychedelic... totally unusable for me

DrQuest - by best results do you mean for CPU / workflow? I don't see how it could make any sonic difference.

Carles - are you saying this happens on every patch? Could you post a quick example along with the settings / patch name? From my brief encounter with it, there seemed a huge variety in what it could do, and what mode things were in.
