Just imagine it's a strings library, Sculp.

I really like the Brainworx Oberhausen, and the new Cherry Audio Eight voice is really impressive. I was considering purchasing the Cherry Audio version, but the other GForce synths I have are first call, so this is tempting.
I think the timing will cause them some problems, when it was first announced I'd probably have taken the bait - if it had been available for Windoze.
Who knows?

It supports polyphonic aftertouch and sounds gorgeous. I would immediately buy it, wouldn't I have just spent way more on a hardware synth (Novation Peak). Maybe later, but I already feel so guilty having spent that much on something that won't "pay for itself" as some people say ...

Best sounding Oberheim emulation I’ve heard, but I’d need it to be a bit cheaper because, well, I don’t NEED it.

I beg to differ :-)
Peak is immediately accessible and never fails to give me either the sound I'm trying to get, or a sound that inspires me to write. I don't know how you personally measure the value of an instrument, but for me those two are key. Enjoy!

I think you misunderstand: I am not regretting the purchase of the Peak!
I just know that it is not true to claim, it would pay for itself. Any project I would be using it on in the future will also work with any decent software synth. I consider it self deception when people claim, this or that sample library (or synth) will "pay for itself". This is just one more of those unbearably stupid phrases people in our profession (just as well as others) keep making. All we do is consume, as we are supposed to as "good citizens" and we need reasons to justify that.
So, I know I just bought this synth for my own pleasure, but that doesn't mean I hate it - on the contrary! I know exactly why I bought it, but that has more to do with -- yeah, as you say: feeling inspired by the hardware interaction and the fact that I can play it with polyphonic aftertouch and the whole concept of that synth. But that doesn't mean I couldn't be inspired enough to do any composing job in the future with synths I already own like Diva, Omnisphere, Zebra, Moog Voyager or DSI Prohet 12 ... If I would seriously claim I needed the Peak to get get my creative juices flowing, I should rather look for the problem within my own creativity than a missing piece of further gear. I guess I just don't want to join in with the delusions many people have about their motivations. But I will certainly enjoy the Peak!

I understood you were just pointing out that it was not a necessary purchase. Without getting into the way your text makes me sound “delusional” (suffice it to say that I have been more than just in general agreement about consumerism , capitalism and globalism and our treatment of resources/environment for well over a decade), I genuinely mean that it is a special synth.
Personally, I do not equally get inspired with a mouse in my hand. Peak allows me to not turn on the computer in the first place. You might even argue I’m consuming less electricity. Peak allows me to further improve my synthesis chops, due to its clear layout, unlike something like, say, Zebra, with its semi-modular approach.
It is the same reason as to why I chose a MIDI controller (FA-08) with built-in sounds and decent pianos. It allows me to minimize the steps involved to remain creative and cutting out the undoubtedly tedious process that is technology as a whole.
We are of the same mind here, no doubt.
Apologies for the derailment; the OB-E sounds tremendous. Good that I’m already covered on this particular emulation.
