Blimey. Sign of the times when UAD and Sonnox products go for pence. Ends Aug 31.

Yes, the plugin wars have decimated the price. Having said that, Sonnox has not really introduced any new serious features or improvements in most of their existing plugins so for something that is essentially 18 years old, low prices are sensible in today's market where the Fabfilters of the world are often the better choice.

Take Inflator for example. It is very outdated and is probably not even worth it at 90% off.

...just to point out that although quite a lot of the Sonnox products are quite old, some are (relatively) new eg Claro, Voca and some have been updated significantly, such as the dynamic EQ.

Inflator I think performs almost no useful function though.

I got Claro time ago and had to stop using it because of its annoying habit of wanting to check the web for authorisation. My machine isn’t connected to internet so…

ListenHub looks useful.

Guy, I am surprised that Inflator does nothing for you. To me, tracks that have been 'inflatorised' sound louder at the same volume as tracks that have been limited. Perhaps I'm fooling myself, but I like using Inflator when I want a track to 'pop', so to speak.

I did a few blind tests when I'd adjusted for the same Loudness and I honestly couldn't tell any difference.

It can squeeze more in technically into a wav, but that's not really useful in a Loudness era.

Good to know! I should do some blind tests with the Cubase stock limiter. If I can't hear a difference, I could have saved myself 20 dollars. However, I'll probably continue to use it since it's easy and I'm already familiar with it. But that would make it an unnecessary purchase.

Voca, Claro and Drum Gate gets a lot of use here. Also bought the reverb not too long ago, like it a lot.
Time is life, use it wisely.

Du you use Drum Gate also for vi drums or only for live recordings?
And if so what is the advantage to any other gate like E.g. FabFilters Pro-G?

I use it only on live drums. The benefit of Drum Gate is that you can let it know what type of Drum it is and it zones in on those frequencies. It's marvellously good 😀

Also, can get a MIDI trigger out for layering extra drum samples.

I use the Oxford Reverb, Envolution, Dynamics and TransMod plug-ins pretty much all the time. Well, very often, certainly. And, less frequently, the Limiter. The SuprEsser is useful too — not just for de-essing (which I hardly ever need to do anyway) — but I've got that one in the UA-version which is a sort of lite version, compared to the original Sonnox one.

Thanks for the Info. Sounds interesting. I don't do a lot of live drum recordings. If I need a live drummer the drummers here do that in there own recording enviroment usually pretty good. But vi's took pretty much over the job for the low to medium budget projects I do sadly.

Same here. I just hired a drummer for the first time in quite a while, and he recorded in his drum room then sent me a mix and stems.

As for Sonnox, the only plugin I have of theirs is the Oxford Inflator and I never found it useful, probably due to my own technical failings.
