Black Friday 2024 hot tips
I don't have time this year to keep an OP updated, but let's post tips here for the good deals. Here's some of the big hitters to kick us off:
NATIVE INSTRUMENTS
50% off most things (not Komplete 15 upgrades though) - https://www.native-instruments.com/en/s ... ason-2024/
ORCHESTRAL TOOLS
50% off most things (not singles I don't think) - https://www.orchestraltools.com/promoti ... riday-2024#
ARTURIA
Again, 50% off most things and upgrade deals - https://www.arturia.com/promos/black-fr ... stay-ahead
SPITFIRE AUDIO
Various deals - https://www.spitfireaudio.com/collections
I might have to get The Ton this year. Resonate, Evelyn Glennie library, has always been tempting, plus old classic Albion Loegria and Rare Flutes for £100.

There's a good deal over at BestService: IK's Pianoverse Max — a bundle of 7 pianos, on a normal day costing around $149 each — for only €99.
And wait, there's more: the purchase also allows you to choose from a list of products (**) one item that will be included for free. One of those products, for example, is IK's highly regarded MixBox (70 processors from T-Racks, Amplitube & SampleTank in a single rack) which normally costs €199.
Pianoverse MAX currently (*) includes the following instruments:
- Concert Grand YF3
- Royal Upright Y5
- Black Diamond B280
- NY Grand S274
- Gran Concerto 278
- Hamburg Grand S274
- Black Pearl B200 & Liberty Upright
(*) 'Currently' seems to indicate that IK might add other instruments to a MAX license in the future.
(**) The list of free bonus products you can choose from:
- AAS Universal Sound-Pack (€39)
- Engine Audio Wooden Melodica (€49)
- IK Multimedia MixBox (€199)
- MAAT Labs MAATgo (€24)
- PrimeStudio Raven Strike (€99)
- Rast Sound Vocal Morphs PRO (€59)
- Ueberschall Groove Shadows (€49)
- Zero-G WARP Static (€69)

AUDIO IMPERIA have released their Black Friday sale-“up to” 75% off across their offerings.
Jaeger, for example, is 50% off, but there seems to be an additional 10% off if you spend over $35. It’s a bit confusing.

My first thought when I saw that was "you idiot, you should have waited for a sale on Resonate", but then I remembered that I've been playing with it for a while now, so no biggie, and I did get it on sale, just not quite this inexpensive.Guy Rowland wrote: ↑Nov 15, 2024 1:53 am SPITFIRE AUDIO

I think you will find it interesting, inspiring, and sometimes even useful
I really like a lot of it, but it was an acquired taste. I had been so excited about it, and reality did not live up to fantasy, but then it almost never does, and after I calmed down a bit I decided I did like it, a lot.

Well I hope I will find it all that Bill, I've just bought the Ton (won't play for a day or two). It's appealing because it's not going to duplicate what I have too much I think, and it feels like it should be quite playable.wst3 wrote: ↑Nov 15, 2024 12:04 pm I think you will find it interesting, inspiring, and sometimes even useful

Those half patches on Loegria sound rather nice in the walkthrough too.

Re: Black Friday 2024 hot tips
Yes. Bought it yesterday. Haven't been able to test the pianos the way I would like though, because Pianoverse is troubled by a bug that makes it stop producing sound when you feed it more midi-data that it can cope with. Or, to put it differently: after 20-30 seconds of intensive playing (lots of pedal, lots of arpeggios), Pianoverse goes silent. It's easy enough to wake it up again (simply pressing the exclamation mark in the top right corner of the GUI - which resets its audio engine), but that will only give you another 20 or 30 seconds (depending on what you play). And so on and so on. Pretty useless, in other words.
Apparently -- but this is not confirmed yet by IK Multimedia -- it only affects those users who have their systems running at high sample rates. I'm one of those. I have my system set at 88kHz. I've been informed by someone who knows about the bug, that it doesn't occur at all when you have your system set at 44kHz. But I have no intention of doing that. I'm going to wait until IK Multimedia addresses this issue.
So, all I've done so far is a quick and very fragmented play-through of some of the included pianos. Solely based on those brief encounters, I wouldn't call any of them "great virtual pianos", but I definitely heard a few timbres that I have use for.
What has been a nice surprise however, is the included free MixBox. Never had much interest in the FX processing plugins from the likes of a.o. IK Multimedia and Arturia because I already have so many excellent tools from other companies, but I've got to say: what's included in MixBox is good stuff. Seriously good. And the mock-lunchbox-format is actually more convenient than I imagined it would be. MixBox is definitely a keeper.
So, even if Pianoverse remains as it is — of no use whatsoever to me and my 88kHz audio configuration — I still feel I made a rather good purchase yesterday.

An observation. Fab Filter have their annual 25% off sale, and fair play to them - they seem to be able to charge 4x what competitors do and get away with it. Sonnox are down to over 90% off with some now... how the mighty's prices fall.
Re: Black Friday 2024 hot tips
I saw that as well. FF seems to have a lot of fans.

Anything still absolutely worth having, Guy? I bought their Reverb a long time ago and it still gets used. Already have Inflator and Claro as well. Never got beyond that though. Always seemed like there was an alternative already.Guy Rowland wrote: ↑Nov 18, 2024 5:06 pm An observation. I bet you're well stocked. I used the supressor and dynamics all the time, but I don't think they're the ultimate best in the world or anything - they're solid and do a good job.Luciano Storti wrote: ↑Nov 18, 2024 5:53 pm Anything still absolutely worth having, Guy? Thanks. Indeed, I have the Weiss suite for de-essing and dynamics, among several others. Anyone have experience with ListenHub? Still looking for a good Master Noise suppressor/limiter for Logic.

A useful and perhaps self-promoting link:
https://soundiron.com/
50% off everything and 25% off their Omega Bundle.
I produced the Sonespheres line of libraries there to be transparent, but there are lots of great libraries outside of those as well obviously.

I’m running a BIIIG sale this year: 50% off everything, and 60% off any library you add to the cart after the first one - you will never get any bunker library cheaper than this! Ends December 3.

The Harmonic Subtones' solo strings are available at Best Service for €99.5 apiece:
https://www.bestservice.com/de/emotional_cello.html
I don't think that they have ever been lower priced than that.
How is the Emotional Viola? I have researched the Cello and Violin, but don't know how good the viola is.

Re: Black Friday 2024 hot tips
It's been an easy year for me. I got the Spitfire Ton, which is just about worth exactly £100 for me I'd say, and the Nexus 5 update. Oh and the Waves freebie though I may forget to install that.
There seemed to be a lack of really compelling deals. OT's 50% off gets them down to most peoples' regular price (except Heavyocity who are the same). I usually pick up something from Toontrack, but their deals have been pretty woeful for a couple of years now, and STILL no good discounts on any SDX from Hansa onwards.
I'm always grateful though, because I don't need any more expansions ever. Or almost anything.

Re: Black Friday 2024 hot tips
I grabbed some $7 EZKeys MIDI packs, and Boom's Uberloud. Other than that there was nothing compelling. Picked up some SFX instead. I, too, will likely not install the Waves freebie, though I did get a serial.
Be an upstander.

Audiobro LASS 3 is 199$:
https://audiobro.com/la-scoring-strings-3/
I don't know if this is a special Black Friday discount or if it has become a regular price. It's the full library, including the con sordino expansion. Lots of content at a very good price.
