Zynaptiq Orange Vocoder Nano for $1 (for 3 days)

EDIT - check out Frank's post several down (playz123) who had a bad experience here when using virtual cash. He was told there is now a minimum spend of £5 of non-virtual cash.

The Zynaptiq Orange Vocoder had been announced for so long and yet never arrived it almost became a myth. But arrive it finally did , and it was well received. They released a stripped down version a couple of years back, the Nano:
Four cutting-edge vocoding algorithms from ORANGE VOCODER IV: Advanced LPC-35 Medium, Online ICA Butter, Speech Model Detailed, and the zero latency Analog Model Live Tight.
Formant shifter with +- 12 semitones range.
Monophonic sawtooth synthesizer as carrier, with 24db low-pass filter, legato glide and vibrato via mod-wheel. Controllable via MIDI or on-screen keyboard.
3-way mixer for input, vocoder and synthesizer.
Super-subtle chorus effect for sweetening.
Supports AU (Mac only), AAX Native, VST 2.4 and VST 3 on macOS and Windows.
You get two iLok activations, either physical or machine-authorized. Once registered there also is a reduced upgrade price to get the full version.

This deal only lasts until October 13th, but it is legit at Plugin Boutique. And hey kids, you get another plugin - their own Shapemod envelope shaper - thrown in.

Start here - https://www.pluginboutique.com/products/10921-ShapeMod . The price in the UK is £49, add to cart. Then add the Orange Vocoder Nano as the free gift. Then at the final stage of the checkout, add the coupon code SM-2. In the UK with VAT the total is £1.01.

(note - of course you can buy anything else you want instead of the £1 Shapemod envelope shaper, and you still get that free gift offer).

I've just given it a quick trial. It feels like a good option here, albeit of course limited in options in this iteration. Intelligibility is pretty good, and there is a live input near-zero latency option.

Well, unfortunately this process turned into a complete farce for me, and now I have a plugin I don't want but not the one I wished to test. Here's my story:
As per above, on Friday I put ShapeMod into my cart, chose the Orange Vocoder Nano as my free gift and checked out using the code. The amount owing was then less than a pound, so I used $1.83 in my Plugin Boutique account and that made the balance zero. After checkout, ShapeMod was in my account, but OV Nano was not. So I contacted Support and had to wait until today for an answer.

They said:
"I have checked the order and can see you paid no monetary value for your order, which is why the free gift wasn't offered. You must pay at least £5/$5 cash value to have access to the free gift."

Pardon? So first, they appear to be saying that money in my account isn't really money, although they took it and used it anyway, and second, even though the amount showing at checkout was less than a pound, I was then supposed to turn around and pay 5 pounds anyway to get the free gift?? This is totally contrary what is described above. I now have ShapeMod, which I have no intention of even downloading, the 'money' in my PB account is gone and I don't have OV Nano as I was apparently supposed to have. Not a happy camper and I've sent them another message. Done with PB for now.

That's grim Frank. Maybe they thought too many people were getting too good a deal and changed the rules. It doesn't sound legal, but no doubt it's a grey area with the virtual cash.

You definitely needed to keep at least 1 cent as a balance otherwise the Vocoder (or any freebie) would be removed. There should have been a notification if it was removed. Sorry, Frank.

Thank you both for your kind words of understanding; much appreciated. I don’t know if I will hear back from them, but life goes on, and onwards we go. 😊

EDIT: From PB..."I have been supplying incorrect information on this promotion. There needs to be some (£0.01) monetary value for the free gift to be offered. As you applied virtual credit to make up the whole payment, this doesn't count. However, for the confusion, on this occasion, I will provide you with the free gift."
They also went on to suggest this requirement was not made clear, so I guess all has ended well, and sometimes it does pay to complain. Obviously their virtual cash does not carry the same value as actual money either when it comes to paying the required amount shown in the cart. No idea why as it makes little sense..at least to me!
