Aperture strings is indeed a different thing than the Original Series offers - the latter being an Albion 1 legacy spin-off/lighter lib based on A1 Legacy strings, hence the free dwl for those who happen to own A1 legacy.

As for Epic Strings - IMO any owners of Albion 1, it isn't worth installing. De-noising could be the only possible reason to, but its so limited compared with the full library I don't really see any point.

The people upset over this library over on the other forum make me chuckle. They’re 100% justified to be annoyed/angry or whatever, but those of us who went through the Sable to SCS debacle know it is completely within Spitfires lane to screw over loyal customers. After having to buy Ensembles in order to even qualify for SCS Pro...the writing was on the wall. Sable is great but it wasn’t going to be supported anymore (and the only way to get the new performance legato patch was to “upgrade”) so I hung my head and paid the fee.

Hope this library is great for those who get in on it...but maybe the fact that more people are waking up to their ridiculous schemes is a good thing...

It's a sore point for me in a slightly different way. Eventually they relented (I think?) - it didn't cost me much to upgrade, about 90 quid I think. But an utterly wasted 90 quid nonetheless, they hadn't fixed a single one of the gazillion clonks, bangs and gunshots that litter the otherwise beuatiful library, and I honestly found the performance legato added nothing at all, with their last Sable legato incarnations playing better for me. And you know what? Sable still works just as it always did without being supported.

Oh well. It has worked wonders for me not being tempted to get other juicy looking things from them though. I had a quick glance at their BF deals, and they seemed a particularly easy pass, reminding me that Which? (the UK consumer organisation) found that 95% of Black Friday deals are essentially scams - availble at the same price or cheaper within months of Black Friday itself - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-50551415

If I remember correctly I had to buy Ensembles for $200 (which...for Christ sake....I owned Sable full and had NO use for an Ensemble library that was created from samples that I already owned) and after that I can’t remember if I had to pay an additional $100 to “upgrade” to SCS or not. But either way, it was terrible of them to do that. Sable was expensive!

The point you bring up is very valid, and I have to say it is what really makes me the most agitated. I always assumed that they would follow through and fix all the issues with the library, so I paid the fee. However, you are absolutely correct: they never fixed anything. When it comes to SA, 2013 me would have recommended them to anyone....but after that? No way in hell. But somehow they have managed to gain such a cult following in that time it actually turns my stomach. (I’m on mobile so sorry for grammar issues).
