Plugin Alliance / Saturators $19.99 (one day only)
Plugin Alliance has selected four of their saturator plug-ins as today's Holiday Sales offer, meaning you can buy them for $19.99 a piece today. Three of those I don't much care for, I must say— although MANY people strongly disagree with that opinion — but there's one which, in my view, really does ...

Re: FabFilter Pro-Q4
I don’t have Pro-Q, but a powerful, high-quality EQ like that can be used equally well on individual tracks as on the StereoOut (if that is what you mean by ‘mastering’, Larry). Experienced people usually advice to restrict EQ’ing on the StereoOut to subtle broad-stroke settings and small wideband ad ...

Re: QRS Room Simulator and Yardstick reverb plugins
I haven’t compared them yet, Jay — I haven’t even used the Logic one I must admit, apart from quickly checking it out after updating — and I’ve also never worked with the original hardware, so I don’t know if I’m qualified to comment. From what I understand, Apple were able to built their QRS plug-in ...

Had I read this a few minutes later than I did, I would have to apologize for deleting the file, cause I'm the middle of autumn cleaning my audio HD.
But I didn't, so I haven't. The link is re-enabled.

Re: Magic Hi-Hats by Loops dela Creme
True, Guy. What I said about playing the LdlC hats directly, so as to be able to get the best out of them — which you’ll never get if you just drag a midi-file from somewhere else onto their track —, applies to the Toontrack hats as well of course. Or to most any midi-driven instrument, I would think ...

Re: Magic Hi-Hats by Loops dela Creme
You can’t remap from the GUI, but the patches are fully editable, so in Kontakt’s Editor you can remap things any way you like. As soon as you do though, the patterns no longer function. (The sequencer still does.) These hats do use the widely adopted standard of F#1 (closed), G#1 (pedal) and A#1 (op ...

Re: Magic Hi-Hats by Loops dela Creme
Thanks, Markus! I wasn't aware that this had been released. And it's 200% my kind of sample library. You can always count on Loops de la Crème to deliver brilliant and extremely useful material like this. Only €32 today and only €64 next month, but in reality at least worth 10 times that, because a l ...

Re: Black Friday 2024 hot tips
Yes. Bought it yesterday. Haven't been able to test the pianos the way I would like though, because Pianoverse is troubled by a bug that makes it stop producing sound when you feed it more midi-data that it can cope with. Or, to put it differently: after 20-30 seconds of intensive playing (lots of ...

Re: Black Friday 2024 hot tips
There's a good deal over at BestService: IK's Pianoverse Max — a bundle of 7 pianos, on a normal day costing around $149 each — for only €99. And wait, there's more: the purchase also allows you to choose from a list of products (**) one item that will be included for free. One of those products, for ...

Synthogy / Ivory III American D
Synthogy have released the Ivory III upgrade of what may well be their best-liked grand piano: the American D . The new version is powered by the Ivory III RGB-engine, meaning that it now has clever solutions for seamless velocity-to-timbre transitions, advanced resonance implementation, multiple ...

Re: ISW Tokyo Scoring Strings 2.0 - a massive update!
Not only has the original TSS v1 release thread been renamed — took me quite a while before that dawned on me — but it’s a 103 page thread I had to wade through in order to find my post. I’d almost given up looking for it, but I eventually found it on page 80. After this however, I couldn’t be bother ...

Re: ISW Tokyo Scoring Strings 2.0 - a massive update!
I read on VI-C of a number of people having problems with the download and the installation, and the fact that the cello patches open in demo-mode. I experienced nothing of that: quick download (just over an hour), smooth installation and every cello patch I tried (didn’t try them all yet) opens j ...

Re: Softube / Layers
Yeah, I don't understand the choice of demos either. But about that 'room': there is no room. There is the suggestion of a 'room' through the use of multiple short delays. Short delays acting as a sort of ... early reflections. It's a really great technique. I use short delays — anywhere between 40 a ...

Re: VILabs / Modern D
I’m having some trouble with SPAT v3 since a few weeks. I’m not sure what started it, some update or other I guess — I have a strong feeling it’s Sonoma (the latest version of Logic + Sonoma is without a doubt the most bug-ridden, unreliable software contraption I’ve ever had to deal with) — but the ...

Re: VILabs / Modern D
You shouldn’t do that, Linos. Compare it to the real thing, I mean. Guy (and, I’m sure, lots of other people too) always protests incredulously when I say that a sampled piano — even a very good one — can only give us 5-10% of what a real instrument can give, but I stick with that percentage. (I’m ev ...

Re: VILabs / Modern D
I keep buying VI Steinways (and others), and I keep going back to Vintage D. Probably by now a couple thousand dollars worth of pianos collected in my VI graveyard, and I'm sure that's light compared to many here. As Luke said, your endorsement counts for a lot here, Piet. I may yet buckle before ...
