Re: Berlin Solo Strings - Orchestral Tools
Thanks Tanuj! I hope your health has improved? I haven’t listened to the walk-through either. Frankly, I wasn’t motivated to after hearing the demos. I am going to check it out, though. I know you have good ears and good sensibilities, so I’ll listen again. I have CSSS which I tried to love and for ...

Re: Berlin Solo Strings - Orchestral Tools
I think the tone is in the ball park and it may be useful as a writing tool if it is easy to use. Some of the short, long and repeating interval legato sounds good in the demos. I haven't seen the walk through but it may be a good investment if a project needs it. The occasional harshness should be ...

Re: FabFilter Pro-Q4
A fantastic update for me personally. The two most important features from a composer/producer perspective is the addition of saturation which can really change what Pro-Q has always been about at the click of a button and the new spectral mode - for targeting pesky frequencies in samples ...

A very exciting upgrade to an already powerful EQ.
Looking forward to Dan’s walkthrough video!

Re: NI Kontakt 8 and Komplete 15 - RELEASED
Guy , thanks for your detailed thoughts on this. I just did not like Kontakt 7 and have stayed away. I am currently on 6.8 and I have made a massive new template. Do you know whether Kontakt 8 will replace 6.8? If I remove Kontat 6.8 and 7, I suppose Kontakt 8 will just load the template in the new ...

Re: Strezov Sampling / String Contours
Very nice library from Strezov. I think it will be very useful for some composers. I have been reluctant to buy such modules in the past (not because of snobbery) because it's just now how my brain works when writing but this library does do something very difficult to do otherwise. My only concern ...
Re: Woodwinds
Between CSS, SWAM and now V-winds - there is hardly any situation that cannot be covered suitably for most mock-ups. Different sound perspectives are a different matter and in that line of thinking, you may need multiple libraries because a hardcore programmer may even purchase a library for just a ...

Re: Cubase MIDI modification
Actually it is possible to print the output of midi effects. Look in the inspector panel and drag that weird bar looking thing - effects that are above it will get recorded into the track, effects below will transform midi going out from the track, if that makes sense. midi-fx.gif That's how it ...

Cubase MIDI modification [Solved]
Hello everyone, I am setting up a new large scale template and I am trying to make my life a bit easier but I have run into a dead end. I would like to set-up certain channels up in a way so that no matter at what velocity I play my keyboard, Cubase should always 'record' it at a fixed velocity. My ...

Re: VSL / Synchron Solo Strings (Violin & Cello)
It's an impressive release. I wouldn't have posted this, as I can only repeat myself. But these libraries deserve comments. Even slightly critical ones. I love these libraries on paper. It's a great selection of articulations. The sampling depth seems great. And VSL always pays attention to detail ...

Re: Hollywood Strings 2
Surprisingly vintage sounding. Like a cross between the old LASS and VSL libraries. The original announcement video sounds quite bad but the walk through is better. In many places it doesn't even sound like strings anymore! I doubt it will be useful as a stand-alone. A detail and colour obsessed ...

Re: ProjectSAM Lineage Percussion
Tanuj-I assume you bought the Pro? Yes, I got the pro. The core version has one mic position and less number of instruments and for many people that will be useful. The premixes sound good too but I usually need to make adjustments. I am already using the library in a project right now and reached ...

Re: ProjectSAM Lineage Percussion
My suspicion was right - it sounds fantastic! It's a massive improvement on an already good sounding library. The cymbals, snares, gran casa are much better now and brings it all into 2024 nicely. The Timpani is amazing and it will replace my existing samples immediately. The tremolos sound good too ...

Re: ProjectSAM Lineage Percussion
I might pick it up today. I LOVE true strike and I have never purchased another orchestral percussion library since 2005, except for the update. But of course I need to hear the demos/walkthrough. Incredibly excited because it’s going to be much better than true strike as the library shows its age i ...

Re: Abbey Road Orchestra - Violins 1 announced
I have just seen Blake's video and it sounds to me like the best Spitfire library in a long time (orchestral). It is only violins 1 but I will be getting it for sure. It may retire CSS and Berlin for me, especially once the other sections are released. I actually think this is rather special. It ...

Re: Abbey Road Orchestra - Violins 1 announced
I think that it was just a quick and joyous playback of an in development library. There has been a slight overreaction in my opinion. I am sure that the final version will sound much better than this as it’s obviously not finished. But it does seem to have the big ‘roomy’ Abbey Road sound which is n ...

Re: Cinesamples Industry Brass and Musio subscription platform inc "Lifetime license"
First the fake-mistake sale, now a "lifetime subscription". Sounds like a cash grab to me. Buyer very beware. I must admit the same thought had occurred to me. It’s pretty odd when you think about it - they’re giving away everything they have ever done or ever will do for $499. CinePerc’s RRP is $69 ...
