Good review, Guy. Not sure if I’ll read it, but I’ve always been fond of U2
You mean Say Nothing I think? And read that indeed. Saw they also made a serie from it, but maybe that should be in another topic.

Re: Bono: the book, the show and the movie

Yeah I read that in one of the books I read a few years ago and it's very impressive as it shows what influence rock and pop stars can have, specially if they wield their influence in a good way.
Don't know that song, going to take a listen.

Re: Bono: the book, the show and the movie

I don't care anymore how Bono writes as your writing is sublime Guy haha. If he ever decides to have somebody writing up his biography, you should be the man ;) But thank you so much for putting this up. Very interesting and I probably would not picked up his book if I saw it before your post, but ...

Re: Templates again, and process

I am using a setup with disabled tracks Larry in Nuendo. I have basically a setup with orchestral groups (winds, brass, strings etc) and in those groups again per library and within instruments variations (smaller ensembles, horns a2 or a4 etc). Groups with a percussion setup, groups with synth ...

Re: Music That Stands The Test of Time

Great idea for a topic and I share your view on the Rolling Stones. My parents where really into the Stones camp, but for me it switched also. The Beatles grew and really stood the test of time. The Stones far less, with maybe the exception of the far new Voodoo Lounge cd. Rob: Minstrel in the ...

Re: Morricone - The Thing

Wow, I can't even comprehend how great it must be to dive into his works. Congratulations Rob. I always found that he is the master of absorbing the evolution of music of the late 19th and 20th century with him and then take bits and pieces and mold them into scores that work for the movies and ...

Also thanks for me. I was/am very fond of their reverbs and spatial plugins, but decided to remove them mostly from my workspace due to their internal drama and likely no update/support.

Re: Re-learning plug ins from scratch

Occasionally, I’ll acquire a new plugin that’s a little on the complex side and work with it for a while, probably do at least one demo with it. Then I’ll put it aside. If a long enough period of time goes by and I go back to it, I find I have to re-learn it almost from scratch, to the point that I’ ...

"WE WANT MOVIES MADE IN AMERICA, AGAIN!" ...... sigh.....

I am looking forward in lets say 3 years or so to watch the documentary "WE, not he, MADE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN", on how brave Americans stood up against tyranny and overthrew the vicious president and restored order.

Re: Spitfire Audio acquired by SPLICE

I am so done with sentences like “We have such a shared passion for the creators we serve; our values match,”. I saw Splice is backed by Goldman Sachs and with that in the back of the pocket you know that the last thing they care about is sharing passing for the creators they serve... I have not see ...

There’s a lot to like, there. How about Vital ? Still relevant and comparable ? Indeed a lot to like! I just played with it briefly. Re: Great Disappointments

Almost everything I buy is for a project and job I am working on and like Tanuj, it finds usually a place. A lot of stuff is used only a few times, but it served its purpose and hence no regrets. For a more personal project I bought the BBC SO Pro from Spitfire when it was released. I love the sound ...

Re: Oldies but REAL goodies

Curious to see two votes for Inflator. I've had a very chequered history with it. I used to love it until I discovered a) it doesn't limit and it was just squaring stuff off when pushed and b) when I gain-matched I couldn't really tell if it was doing anything on a blind test. I like Sonnox in ...

What a stunning theme. I have not seen the show, read about it of course a lot but just don't have any time at the moment to watch anything. But this show just made it to the top of what I would likely start watching. Beside all that is said already I must say I particular like the bass sound that ...

Re: AI and it's practical applications for music

I tried it a few times for newsletters and maybe improving some of my product text, but I was not happy with the results. Also I noticed it took the fun away of doing things. Even the cumbersome jobs are somehow part of the whole process and I just want to do them and not let it be done by AI. The ...
