Re: Spitfire / Hammers (by Charlie Clouser)

Hi all :)

As I did several yrs ago with HZ01, I did a rhythmic set freebie for Hammers. it's here:

http://jeffreyhayat.com/temp/SFA-Hammers_rhythms.zip

Can someone post this on the VI forum?

Thx!

Re: Orchestral Tools: Tom Holkenborg's Percussion

Eh, that's not baiting. Baiting would be me making an attempt to get people to continue the sludging. I wish to see the opposite.

Cheers.

Re: Sonokinetic Orchestral Strings (with A/B divisi)

Well, the system isn't recognizing my U/P... I do not get why companies feel the need to require a customer log in to send a support ticket. Say I have a pre-sales Q.... I have to create an acct before I ask?

Eh, something is wrong with the stereo image. It actually sounds better when I flip the phase on my Avocet. Should I email Sono?

Perfectly.

No really.

I mean, seriously.

Re: Spitfire @ Abbey Road !/?

Not sure why people love to hate of SF at the other forum...

I think some people just want to counterbalance the fanboys. Of which there are many.

Plus, SFA has earned some of the uppercuts it has recvd. Tho, not to the extent as some would like to make it seem.

Cheers.

Re: VSL Big Bang Brass

Picked this up, and it is in fact good. Needs a little high end added, but overall a very good sound.

There seems to be no marcato, tho. Even tho it's listed in the player GUI. I select marc, and get sus instead. Sent an email to support; waiting on a reply.

That sounds ok, but not to the point of wanting to try it.

On the other hand, that perc was really good! What was it, please?

Re: NI to no longer allow registration of legacy products

I also use many of these legacy products. Can anyone began putting out options for alternative ways to keep these in our systems? g.c. You don't need to worry about keeping them on your machines; once auth'd, they are there forever. The issue is when you go and build a new machine. How to auth them ...

Re: Spitfire Albion NEO

Sounds lovely, and if I didn't already have a bunch of stuff like this (Aperture, Tundra, other libs...) I would def pick it up. But with all the stuff I have, this adds very little, and my template is already too big. 284 MB/1100+ tracks before I even write a note. :/

It's a decent Q to ask, but as I did not go for BBC SO, I can not help you there. Did you watch Daniel James' wthrough? That might help, if you have not.

Re: Spitfire BBC Symphony Orchestra

Hey Linos CS Perc and Brass are excellent choices. So is SFA's JoeyB perc. As is OT's perc for that matter. I am still undecided as to whether or not I would buy OT's BB again. I guess I would, as I have found some use for it, but there are many shortcomings and inconsistencies - much more than one ...

Re: JXL Brass - Orchestral Tools

"Train wreck" feels overstated somewhat. Not to me. Someone on the VI forum did a "Godzilla" thing, and someone else did something called "soft test". Both of those sounded pretty darn good. But the many of the rest of the demos I hear is where the term trainwreck comes from. That said, the SINE ...

Re: JXL Brass - Orchestral Tools

I can't even understand the phrasing

You aren't the only one. Man, from this demo, and others I have heard, the lib sounds like a complete train wreck. The only was to tell for sure, of course, is to work with it, but I do not like what I hear at all.

Re: JXL Brass - Orchestral Tools

I did wonder at 10.00 if that really is a legato patch at all, as all the on-screen articulations don't mention it. I assume its a mode in Sustain... they couldn't possibly have made this WITHOUT legato could they? Well, they could have, but if this is the first w.thru, don't you want to put your ...

Re: JXL Brass - Orchestral Tools

I am really digging the sound (not surprised, based on BB, and my own recordings there), but I am not at all a fan of the transitions. Not easy, I get it, but still. The Hns @ 10:00 are especially egregious.

The player looks cool, tho.

Re: Spitfire BBC Symphony Orchestra

To those who have the lib - how are you finding it? The player and it's potential issues not withstanding; I am talking about the lib itself. I have listened to some use demos; there is one on the VI forum that is very good - in terms of the composition. But I am hearing nothing groundbreaking here ...
