I have no involvement or benefit from this product (caveat), but these packs seem to be getting better and better.
I've just watched the 'Making Of...' video and it looks great.

Re: Toontrack Kicks and Snares EZX
That is a cross stick. In truth there is s lot of confusion in musical terms, but I think the majority of drummers know ... centre hit, rimshot and xstick. Centre hit, self explanatory. Rimshot, combined centre hit while the shank of the stick simultaneously strikes the rim. Xstick - stick rests on ...

Re: Toontrack Kicks and Snares EZX
In the 70’s drummers played a lot more centre hits - fatter, warmer sounds. Since the 80’s until now many drummers play as hard as they can, and every snare beat is s rimshot (very sharp). The samples are all there in Toontrack products to achieve any snare sound. To get a warmer, fatter snare sound, ...

Re: Toontrack Kicks and Snares EZX
Yes, a rimshot. In all Toontrack products you get rimshots and separate centre hits. As I said, the Toontrack midi tends to be high velocity 120-127. You can select a different midi note for either rimshot or centre hit. I think if people hear a lot of high velocity rimshots in the Toontrack audio ...

Re: Toontrack Kicks and Snares EZX
The content in ‘Kicks and Snares’ is not really ‘produced’. It’s more raw than that. I could replicate the flappy bass drums and dry/fat snare drums in your audio examples. Actually harder to reproduce the more modern cracky snares without adding eq. I honestly followed the Mixosaurus story from the ...

Re: Toontrack Kicks and Snares EZX
I think SD3 might be better sounding than SD2. My personal claim was that there are kicks and snares in....EZX Kicks and Snares that could very closely match some of the kicks and snares in your audio montage. Whether I can be bothered to try and match the playing with some midi, then load up the ...

Re: Toontrack Kicks and Snares EZX
Hi, Over the course of three separate Toontrack products, spanning 15 years, Peter and I have covered just about any recording scenario you can think of. The first one we did (Custom & Vintage) was one of the first two Superior packs, and none of us knew quite what we were doing, as everything was ...

Re: Toontrack Kicks and Snares EZX
A little over 10 minutes of drumsounds — from the past 50 years of recorded music —, very few of which, if any, I think can be summoned from Toontrack. Definitely several of those sounds can be found in Kicks and Snares. A lot of the 70's stuff in your audio mix is played (by the drummers) very sof ...

Re: Toontrack Kicks and Snares EZX
Hi, Yes, Peter Henderson and I did EZX The Classic for Toontrack. And yes I played with The Waterboys. As for the signature sound? Toontrack did mix our original recordings, but the recordings are incredibly diverse, as I say, sometimes just two ribbon mics in an untreated room, all the way up to ...

I'd agree the selection within this EZX isn't as broad as everything in their range - missing some snappy piccolos for one thing

Re: Toontrack Kicks and Snares EZX
I stick to my point that there’s a whole range of drumsounds — unhyped, natural drumsounds which I happen to like very much — that the various Toontrack crews don’t seem to be interested in capturing at all. We actually went through every gamut of recording scenario. Vintage consoles, very small roo ...

Re: Toontrack Kicks and Snares EZX
Hi Guys. I'm one of the creators of 'Kicks and Snares' and as such I think there have been just one or two unfair comments made. First up - it's perfectly OK for people not to like the sound of this product. The criticism that none of the drums sound like the drums on a mega mix of great drum ...
