Re: [NEW] VSL Duality Strings

I neglected to mention that VSL was great about the return, reissued my vouchers etc right away. They are to be commended for this excellent (and unfortunately, rare) approach to letting you assess their libraries.

Re: [NEW] VSL Duality Strings

I did return it. While this library has a bunch of great features, like soft/normal/fast/sfz attack variants for all longs, more detaches etc, there are too many negatives for me to ignore. The regular legatos are entirely too separated, more like portato. The dynamic range is limited - I kept wante...

Re: Incoming / Expressive E 'Osmose'

You can search for Haken Continuum to get more hits for the Eagan Matrix and its editor. I think you should have modest expectations about using Osmose to drive other software such as SWAM etc. I own a Continuum and ContinuuMini (and an Osmose on the way), and SWAM, SM etc. A key aspect of the Conti...

Copy/paste didn't work for me in the SINE app.

Re: Modern Scoring Strings (aka LASS 3)

I took MSS out for a spin with my divisi test - the Psycho prelude. Please note: This is entered from the score, not performed per se. The purpose is to explore libraries, not win at mockups. There is no mixing, no fader moves, no CC11 expression, all levels come from dynamics. There are no effects ...

Re: Modern Scoring Strings (aka LASS 3)

I for one am quite glad that Audiobro is still pursuing new, comprehensive, pro-level strings. The problems with LASS (tuning, IMO) won't, I think at this point, be fixed via updates. But the objectives of LASS are still under-served in the sampling market. MSS will be one of the few libraries that ...

But it is said over there that violas in Lass3 will be same samples as Lass2.
FYI - Just the solo viola is from LASS, the viola sections (and everything else) are all new.

Re: VSL Synchron Strings Pro

I see. I was under the impression you used the new Syn.Str.Pro. I'm liking the new Synch. Strings Pro a lot, actually I only liked the short articulations in the older Synch Str. 1, but I think you will find the new Pro version much more satisfying when it comes to the longs, detache, legatos, ...e...

Re: VSL Synchron Strings Pro

I would be keen to hear about this detail from anyone using VSL Synchron Player libraries, or Synchron Strings Pro. I use MIDI scripting to turn a single, chase-able message (usually program change or CC32) into the several that Synchron player might require. In Logic you can use Scripter, outside ...

Re: Post Namm

Even without switching between DAWs, having things be in the MIDI standard facilitates things like: Putting artics in MIDI files, and thus getting to/from your notation program and DAW. Generating and processing artics from scripting tools and other intermediaries that can manipulate MIDI - like Bid...

Re: Post Namm

I would think everyone here could get excited about attribute type and attribute in the note on messages. This is the path to portable articulation info in MIDI, vs the DAW-specific stuff we have now.

Re: Spitfire BBC Symphony Orchestra

Having been burned by the Studio series, I remain skeptical of this one. I love the sound of the room, and the mics are cool, but the studio series suffered IMO from stingy sampling - not enough samples, not long enough samples and loops, not enough dynamics etc, all being stretched too thin by the ...
